Projects Pinch me! 32 Cabrio is mine

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by crminal, Mar 5, 2014.

  1. I'm on a cloud right now....
Never thought I'd own one but thanks to my brother in law Jim who turned me on to this deal, I am the proud owner.
'32 cab, stored, undriven, in a garage for 20+ years. 50's 60's build with 283 chev and 3 speed Zephyrs.

Handmade fenders thanks to the Long Beach PD who gave Roger a "No fenders" ticket in 1960.
Bought from an old hot rodding gent who was a metal shop teacher and drove it to school daily. It will live on in the spirit he envisioned.

Great! I know everyone loves the roadsters with the way that the dash flows into the doors and all, but I'd prefer the cabrio, myself. A real all-weather hot rod!

Cabriolets were factory soft tops. Differed in many ways from roadsters, but primarily by the roll-up windows.

  8. Great score congrats!!

Factory, you can tell by the top of windshield and top door hinge, as well as swage lines.

  9. Not stupid, I'm learning myself and I own it!

Factory deal, much smaller numbers. Roll up windows fit into top frame. Top goes up and down. More room front to back than a roadster. I believe the doors are deeper as well. I believe they always had a rumble seat.

Corrections and additions are welcome. Go ahead Hambers :D

Was the dash engine turned? The seams between the back panel & the quarters was originally welded, like the 3W. Neat car!!

    Very cool looking rod.

You planning just a cleanup? or you have deeper plans for it?

  26. Thanks to all of you for the kind words. Good to know folks are behind you.

I've flushed the tank (no rust ;)) and the hard lines. Got a kit for the AFB carb and will rebuild. Lube the cylinders, check the electrics and give her a whirl in the next few days.

Wow - looks like you will be done in just a few weeks. Amazing find. Is that windshield header stock and just wood grain finished, or is that a wooden accessory that the PO added?
