  1. According to Hemmings, it was built by Charles Matthew's in the late 40's or early 50's in Dayton, Ohio. It was built using Crosley parts and the body may have been made from sheet aluminum, it was silver in color.

Friendly town automotive safety program in Danville Illinois. The city created a small town in a city park with buildings, sidewalks, traffic signals etc. and used it to teach grade school kids how to be safe walking, on their bikes and even driving electric powered Mustang JR cars. The little buildings were used to store the cars when not in use. For the real little kids they had wired remote hand controls like the officers have in their right hand. The remote operated the accelerator only the driver steered the car.

  26. Sign in front of a service statin in 1955 that breaks down the price of gas. I worked at a filling station in 1956 and we did NOT make 4-cents per gallon profit at that time. It was more like 2-1/2-cents per gallon.
Notice how much the government was making....and this was in 1955!!

That was a pretty serious body shop. I grew up in a body shop & in todays world cars that were rebuilt there would be scraped today. Frame racks, porta power,& so much lead that most body men didn't last into retirement very long. Most shops didn't have a paint booth so paint was done last thing of the day & rubbed out in the morning. We teenagers rubbed out paint on Saturday morning & at noon got to go with the grown ups to lunch & have a burger& bowl of chilie. That was growing up in the 40s& 50s.
