    This is cool.

How about windscreen and other windows? Do you have local supplier? If not, try Kuttilan Autolasi in Salo, Finland. They do most of the impossible ideas happen... around the world.

I have to do something to my Chaika project...

Who needs politicians. We car guys should rule the world. We all speak the same "language" and respect the others skill and talent. Igor deserves the attention. I had no idea craftsmanship of this caliber existed in Russia. Awesome undertaking and kudos for translating into English and posting pictures.

  14. Very nice work. Kind of what I think the old coach builders used to do.

Well, there's something interesting and new.

For the manufacture of the rear wings I had to create a master model. Of the many options, I chose the old proven method - creating spatial metal frame using profiles and wire.
As usual, it all started with the drawings. I draw a horizontal cross-sectional life-size and arched its profile by tube of 15x15 mm. Then I cut the profile obtained grinder to get two completely symmetric details of future products. Likewise I made a pattern of longitudinal and transverse sections of the wing. Then I mounted the parts on the body, in order to avoid inconsistencies. I did it with the help of semi-automatic tack. When the main support lines are ready, I filled in the volume segments of the binding wire section 5 mm in advance giving them proper form.
Work is not very difficult, but requires accuracy, attention and perseverance. For those who ever wants to use this experience, I advise you to listen to rock ballads, really helps.

    Hello again!

Today I'm going to tell you about windows.

Doors are very complex spatial arrangement, inner surface does not lie in one plane and has a whirling that is caused by a body structure. The outer surface is so complicated that building it without a hard skeleton is impossible.
Door design (rigidity, brackets, fasteners and gain) is created from scratch, according to the Nikita's design.
One of the design features of these doors is hardtop, i.e. absence of the window frame.

The door with such glazzing is impossible to build without the glass itself, and the glass can not be made without knowing its geometrical parameters, which in turn is determined by the geometry of the body. In this regard, we decided to create a separate virtual 3D model of the door to the existing parameters, with glazing and internal structures. This model will allow us to get all the parameters of any items constituting our design, including very complicated shape glass.

Lets take a closer look to glass form.
The fact that the glass has not only a vertical bend, like the majority of modern vehicles (in a front view), but also horizontal (in plan view). Thus it turns out that the form of glass is spherical, besides it has a whirling due to the shape of the roof, in plan view. It should be noted that among of modern cars this decision is quite rare. Examples are cars like the Volkswagen Beetle convertible, model 2012, Bugatti Veyron, and some others.

Window lifter on the frameless doors should also have a special design. It serves not only as a mechanism lifting / lowering of the glass but also a guide to where the glass moves along the desired trajectory. With electric window we were lucky: bend and length as well as possible came from the Toyota Supra.

All 3d-works were made in Solid Works by Felis (It's one of our co-worker).

Thank you professor Igor. Very clear explanation. Can't wait to see it realized in full scale.
