Projects Walker special track T build

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Barillaro Speed Emporium, Feb 14, 2014.

  1. I started this T project about 8 months ago. It started as a project to sell but it's starting to grow on me! It's called the Walker Special for a friend of my brother and I after he passed away in December. My brother Jim is building the A roadster I'm Mike this is my project. It's goin to TROG this year. It started as a 26 touring and is on an original A chassis that's been modified to fit the 6 inch narrowed body then fitted with a t rear crossmember and spring that's hanging the truck banjo. Dropped beam and 40 bones up front juice brakes all around. Power is a V860 and a truck trans. Cowl steer using a f-100 box. And the handmade track nose is as far as I got so far. Mike, I really like your project. Knowing what kind of talent you have, can't wait to see the build. Keep plenty of pictures coming. By the way, my modified was my most fun car to build and drive. I'll stop by next time I go down to see Ed Gromer.

Nice proportions on the nose... keeping the chin low and the face behind the front wheels!

    Keep up the good work!

Very cool. I have a V8-60 that I have thought about building a modified around so I've subscribed. Please let us know what rear ratio and trans info you are using.

  21. Got more done on the pedals. I've decided to hang them since space is cramped I think I can make things work a little easier. Master cylinder won't be a problem the clutch is gonna take a little more to make it happen. I'm gonna try to make it work with a bell crank so it can be all mechanical. Ended up cutting the top of the cowl off since it needed more rust repair and it had been narrowed so I'll make a new top when I'm ready. This also gives me access to weld all my pedal mounts and steering mount. 25. nice. what pedals did ya use?

  26. Not sure what the pedals our out of. A buddy or ours came in the shop with a bunch of misc pedals from a retired guy that wanted all this junk gone. We hung them all on the wall and now one pair of them are going back into service. Free old parts that nobody wants makes for some of the coolest stuff on a hot rod.

Nice work, I really like the way you did the kick on the rear of the frame rather than just a notch and weld like you usually see.
