Funny, back in the day I didn't care for them - probably because it seemed like everyone had them - so I bought ET Slots instead. But I have two projects going now (one on, one off topic) and for both I am planning S/S Crager's as a must have. They just wouldn't look right with another wheel.

Cragars are a great all around wheel. They can be Custom, Lowrider, Hot Rod, Drag Car, Gasser, or Grocery Getter.

The Wagon inspired me to do this. My friend Dave knows my weakness and found me these. I'm going to set the front end lower to get the look right.

My friend Ricky says I'm nuts, the car has Halibrands on it now and that guys who couldn't get Halibrands ran Cragars and that I'm going backwards. It's ok I've been accussed of this prior. HEy Ricky- I've got a set for the Willys as well :)

54 looks nice with the cragars. I like the pic at the gas station, something about it makes it look old.

  7. Had cragars back in high school, brings back memories looking at these wheels. Timeless look!!

    Thanks Jeffrey,

I'm going to rebuild the front end this Spring and when I do it'll be at least 2" lower. It's appealing to a whole different thing for me. Like being back in Lakewood when I was a very little kid.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that is a Cragar saver.

  21. Gotta laugh, I remember tellimg the Ol' Man when I was really little that I wanted a car with "Chrome Reverse Mags". He just gave me one of these  and chuckled. Then when I was older along came the Crager Deep Dish SS. First set I owned we put on a a '59 Bellair, they stuck out and we had "The Big Meats" lettered over the tires. I took a picture and wrote on the back, "Chrome Reverse Mags!!! Roll your eyes at this" and sent it to him.

Pretty good memory you gave me thanks.

Hands down absolutely the best looking wheels of all time, unless they are the sixteen inch or larger diameter "new style", then they're flat out ridiculously ugly! The only trouble with Cragar S/S wheels, is the propensity of them corroding and flaking, and their weight for racing applications. They are still the wheel of choice on my (now the nephews) 51 Chevrolet Business Coupe, and my 56 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery. Even had them on my 70 340 Dart; with the 4 inch bolt pattern they were made with an extra support "ring" where the spokes meet the rims, but they still were the only wheel I'd put on that car. Had them on the last '51 F1. I ordered them through summit racing and they were made to my specs right here in the good ol' USA.

You can almost NEVER go wrong with a Cragar SS note the backs are 16" very hard to find & have a different look to them. If anyone has a set of 16" PM me if you want to sell them need a pair for one more Austin.

    Thanks Trouble

Here are the wheels for my 57 Corvette Gasser:
Rears, 16 X 8 with 5 X 5" Olds bolt pattern. These had Goodyear Blue Streak slicks on them. The wheels are dated 7 1968 and are very nice.
    Front, 4.5 X 15" 4 3/4" Chevy with 570 X 15 bias tires.
