I am looking for a tachometer that is compatible to a mid 60's Mallory dual point magneto. everything I have checked on is for todays ignition systems. this is what I am using.

there used to be units that would be compatible but what is out there?

Do a bit of research on Zener diode tachs. I had one on a Joe Hunt in the 60's

I used an Auto Meter Signal Converter in my Anglia. Summit P/N ATM - 9118 works fine and I didn't use an Auto Meter tach.

  5. or a 8132 tach adaptor ...can use it on vertex-mallory -hunt..etc.

This compact device converts the Pro Mag’s coil signal into a 12 volt square wave signal so common tachometers designed for electronic ignitions can be used with the Pro Mag. The Converter is less than three inches in length and its circuits are encased in epoxy for water and vibration resistance.[/FONT]

Stack makes some tachometers that are old-school magneto friendly. Some of them even look vintage.
