found a right front fender, does $425 seam high?

 

If it's in great shape and ready to bolt on, probably not. There are not many parts trucks left out there.

You often can find hulks pretty cheap but individual parts are high. I just looked at a parts 59 Dodge for $300 - good front clip, decent bed, wasted cab/doors and non-running/probably frozen Chev. 305/350 combo.

 

Newbie posting here..barely computer literate. My 52 B2B project. On a 91 D-350 chassis. Cummins +5 speed.

Anybody have pictures of a 57 with a '59 sweptline box on it? I found one that will be going on mine but can't dig it out until spring, so will have to wait until then to mock it up

Got this for my birthday today.


Missing grill, left fender and right inner fender..broken windshield but practically no rust.
Does anyone know if a 58 front clip and hood is a bolt in.?

 

I believe that's a negative on the 58 pieces. Different cab and all that in 54.

Personally I love the Dodge bumblebee stripes I would put one on it if i had a sweptline.

 

I agree for a hot rod, I'm after more of a clean mild custom look, I love this one, I think I snagged the picture from this thread somewhere...

Thanks. Found a better nose piece so the one in the pic will not get used. Pretty rusty truck when I found it. Here it is mocked up on the chassis with the bed.

 

MoparJoel where on the 57 is the vin on the frame?

 

Just ahead of the rear axle on outside of the frame rail.
I used to own a 1957 panel.

 

Maybe the panels are different the Pickup Vins are located before the Front axle almost where the front sheet metal goes around the frame on the outboard side.

Here is a picture of my 57's just inside the front sheet metal on the driver side framrail outboard.

 

And once you got the VIN, you can decode it and register it here if you like.

Anyone have any insight into sheet metal for a 1951 dodge b-3 panel? I need some door pillars for a potential project and am wondering if anyone makes re-pops

You will be able to use the pillars out of a truck cab to repair the Panel with, they use the exact same door and share the same opening, it should not be too hard to track down a pair of pillars to repair with.

 

Hey anyone convert to powerboosted brakes? Thinking about trying to add under cab master w/booster and to Scarebirds front brake conversion on the '57.

How have you guys made your clam shell hood a one piece? My 51's hood is flimsy from years of use and I think the one piece looks better. I thought about cutting down a '57 hood. Is that ever been done? Thanks

Good luck finding a affordable 57 hood you can cut up, its a one year only hood. and it isn't even close to the dimensions as a 51. Just weld yours up and go to a junk yard, look for some hinges and a latch you can make work.

 

Thanks for the input Joel. I have to say I like your truck. It was a thought. Like I said my hood is flimsy from years of use. '57 is the first year of the one piece and since the cab was the same in '56 I thought it might work on a '56 I could make it work on an earlier one.

I agree with Joel, if your hood is too far gone to rework, it will be much easier to find a replacement than one off a 57 that will require way more work than practical, I searched for years for a replacement hood for mine and ended up buying a complete grain truck with a nice hood! I recall seeing someone on here that had made the clamshell hood into a one piece, front opening hood but my memory is failing me here.....possibly a panel?? Does anyone else remember this or am I crazy?
