Art & Inspiration Sunday Models 1-19-2014

OK, couldn't find anything started yet this week so here goes. This is my current WIP. I'm rebuilding a survivor Ford F100 that I built back in the 60s. Mainly just re-doing the paint and a little cleanup work. This was and will remain a very mild custom. Going to repaint it metallic blue again. Going to keep the motor and corduroy "tuck & roll" interior just as they were.
Here's how it looked when I pulled it out of storage:

Primered. Just a little finesse work needed on the hood repair areas.

Custom made a 2 carb intake for it. Got some real small plug wires half way done. Fuel lines run.
Photo etched part from Pitstop87.com (Steering wheel, 40" shifter, speedo, and grille for now.
Chopped and chaneled, kustom made frame, and made wood slots from the roof.

Also built a 1955 caddie nomad in 1/87 scale too. Its the only in the whole world.

You and I have similar interests. Mine was cast by Jordan but I suspect it's the same as yours. I started with the 32 fenderless hot rod and added full fenders, 302 v-8, and machined pieces like the exhaust and taillights.

Cool stuff again this week. The miniature miniature stuff always amazes me. I especially like the full-fendered conversion, very ambitious and well executed.

Back in 1957-1958 Revell issued a couple of small model trucks, a 56 Ford pickup with a police bike and a Chevy 2 ton stake with some barrels and crates.
These were repopped a number of years ago and having built them as a kid I bought some for the nostalgia factor and wanting to apply my more advanced skills than what I had in '58'.
The kits are fairly detailed although assembly is not quite what it is by today's standards.
I started by cutting the lower part of the engine away from the frame and glueing it to the engine. The engine was then detailed with plug wires, fan belt and paint. The old stovelbolt six.
I added door handles and vent window posts, filled and smoothed all the body joints. I cut some fender emblems from card stock and added them and some west coast mirrors.
The frame was cleaned up and and reflectors were added to the mudflaps.
The decking was painted and detailed to look like wood.
From the '56' Ford pickup kits I took the motorcycles and painted and detailed them. These were added to the deck with tie down straps.
I made a wooden buck to form a windshield as these kits had no kind of windows included. I used thin packaging plastic, heated and formed over the buck then trimmed to fit the opening.

The '57 Chevy flatbed is just terrific! Excellent detail work on a great old kit. If I remember correctly, it and the little '56 Ford F-100 with the Harley were 1/48th scale.

The '53 Ford Victoria has a great mild custom look!

I've got a few irons in the fire but no new progress to show since dealing with some health issues, but just to put something on the table, here're a traditional rod and custom I was working on awhile ago...

 

Where did you find the '55 desoto grille?

I try to make it a point to check out the builds that are posted here every week. I am terribly slow building models because I just don't have a lot of time to devote to building but, I figured it's about time I contribute a little something here.
