The pics you posted are, well, really bad and really small. However, it looks like the grill is stamped and part of the shell. It also looks like the ford emblem fits into a raised area on the front of the grill and it doesn't use the chrome trim from the cap to the emblem. To me, it looks like 32 commercial. 32 commercial is also not as thick front to back as the 33-34 truck. Really good pics would be a big help.

I know the pix are bad.... I updated them and two of the three should be larger. Computers not loading them right. Oh, well.... I just want to make sure it's not a 33. I plan on putting on a 31 model a pick up and using the model A radiator. It seems like the radiator cap will be tight against the back of the grille, and that made me think the grille might need to be leaned to put the cap on. If it needs to be leaned then I was thinking it might not be a 32. Help....

Its hard to tell from those angles, but it looks more like a 33 to me.

The 32 is the same depth top to bottom.
The backside of a 33 has a slight angle and is thicker at the bottom.
The 34 is thicker than the 32 and 33 and much deeper at the bottom.

The 32, 33 and 34 use the size Ford oval. The 32 and 33 ovals mount in a stamped oval ring but the 34 has a chrome plated die cast radiator ornament from the cap to the front roll similar to but not the same as the 34 passenger car.

    I agree that it is a 33.

  9. I would think you could use it regardless.....or just make it fit.

Not clear in your poor pictures but does the radiator filler hole have a bead that runs down to the bead around the Ford oval or is it smooth between the two points?

From the look of the new pic, which is still not great, it looks to have the bead. What does that mean. Mine has that bead also and I always thought it was a 32 commercial.

Where's Bruce Lancaster to explain all the variations to us! :)

I have 2 33 commerial shells and they both have the bead around the back.

    differences

32 is narrow like a 32 car shell and has one crank hole on the inner grille splash pan and has the little reveals around the ford badge no holes for trim around the bar opening, also has bead around back edge

33 is wider, has two crank holes on the inner grille splash pan and has the little reveal around the ford badge, no holes for trim around the bar opening, also has bead around back edge like 32

34 is wider like the 33, also has two crank holes on the inner grille splash pan, and is smooth where a chome peice bolts on with the ford badge in it, and also has holes for chrome trim around the bar opening, i dont have a 34 to look at so no sure if it has the bead around the back edge nut pretty sure it does.

We were referring to the bead between the filler neck and the ford emblem.

Thanks Titus. So the thinner of the two shells is the 32 right?

yep, yours is a 32 commercial, once you have one of each in your hands you can tell the difference in a second! the 32s are thin like 32 car shells and the 33 34 trucks are thick and bulky looking

Cool. Thanks. I had a 33-34 commercial shell with the holes for the trim around the edge of the grill bars, which I think was 34 only. I really like the 34 trim and I think I'll try to put it on my 32 commercial. I guess we sort of hijacked the thread a bit but there's good info here. Thanks again.

I had a buddy that bought some of that plastic chrome beading or body moulding with double sided tape and put it onto a 32 commercial shell, it actaully turned out pretty nice.
