Thanks man..I am suscribed to your roadster in the basement thread, and im so jealous I wish I could do a period correct build or at least a prewar hot rod but this is all I can afford, barely.
And thanks for pointing out how long I've been working on thia thing, at this rate, I'll be done in 10 more years.

Here are some pics fron yesterday.

I'm liking it. Looks like a truck now, not just parts.

Are the headlights aimed down too far or is it just camera angle?

  8. Thanks..man.
The grill/headlights are not bolted on. So they are drooping forward

Thats cool, nice to know you like my Roadster project even if it is a life long project. The COE's have always had a special look, thought I'd like to have a 1940, but the cost of just a solid cab and grille are off the charts today. The 1950 is starting to look real good, and '50 was my birthyear, so there may be one in my distant future. Bob

    Thanks guys really.

  13. So here we go guys.
First of all I am as inept as they come to understand how an engine goes together, especially how to adapt a transmission with aod and all the stuff that comes with it.

With all the reading and the info you guys gave me, I'm gping to start ordering some parts.

Finally saved some money from my Gents only oil rubdown side job. (PM for details).

I went ahead and ordered my red holley pump. http://www.jegs.com/i/Holley/510/12-801-1/10002/-1

And im in the process of ordering my holley carb to 700r4 tv cable kit.
    Is this a good product?
    http://www.jegs.com/i/TCI/890/370816/10002/-1?parentProductId=2793322

I also need to buy a lockdown cable kit for the same transmission. .Can anyone recommend a good easy product? ?

I know im buying all this stuff cuz it wont work with out it otherwise but im wondering how the heck im gonna figure how to hook it all up?
Anyone in the high desert/vegas area wana help?

Btw im running a holley carb on a 91 sbc vortec and 700r4 trans.
I have a 1949 gmc radiator in good condition and im in the process of cleaning my gas tank.
    Thanks again..

Don't make me come down there! HaHa and not talking about your soft hands. The 700r isn't that much different than a 350th or 400th in how it hooks up. Put the flywheel on the engine with the proper fine threaded bolts then put the torque converter on the trans and make sure it slides in by lifting a bit and turning, put the trans on the engine and attach with 3/8 x 1 1/4 bolts. Tighten bolts. Then you can turn the converter by hand and line up the holes in the torque converter to the flywheel (3) these are metric bolts and if you don't have them, get from any GM dealer. B-M sells a programmable controller for the lockup or I've been told you can run a power wire though a regular switch. I have only used the GM TV cable and bracket. The key to setting these up is tight (violin string tight ). Besides the electric fuel pump you will need a regulator to keep the pressure down. Hope this helps

  26. Does the eng. have a dist . and what kind ?

For the trans . kick down adjustment , go full throttle and have some one hold it there . While at full adjust the kick down tight . When you get it running put it in 2nd gear run it up till it shifts into 2nd then go to full throttle and it should kick back to first if not tighten kick down cable guarter at a time till it works the way you like it . If it does not like to shift into 2nd till 25 or so (depending on gear ratio } lossen 1/4 at a time . Take your time and youll be glad you did .

You don't need no stinking test stand, the truck is the test stand. I got a go-pro for x-mas so ask specific questions and we can walk you through it if I can overcome the technology. repost some pics of your engine again. I don't think opening a whore house and running by hand is going to fly Orville.

  28. Thanks Blue and Greg is it? Shopdawg?

I haven't had the time to start the engine or to reply...building a little tree house for Nik.
    This is Nik.
