    Never happened... (The rail is the Kent Fuller-built C&T Automotive Stellings and Hampshire Red Stamp Special, Cover of Hot Rod, Feb. 1965)

    I took this photo recently...not vintage...but is shows a Studebaker wagon from the 1870's at Fort Union, New Mexico. The US Army bought hundreds of these wagons to service their forts in the Southwest. They were painted blue and had the word "Studebaker" printed on the side below the driver.

    That's one of four throttle boards for propulsion steam turbines. One wheel is the throttle valve for the ahead turbine, and the other is for the astern turbine.

    Now THAT'S a snow tire! Don't think my dad knew these existed, otherwise he would have bought a set. Can only imagine dry pavement noise and comfort.
