  2. Great build! I'm enjoying every bit of this...

We finished our 32 couple years back (see our video link below) and always wanted a 34 three window.

    So here we go!

Picked up a stock 34 frame couple months back. Collecting other parts: a buildable flathead from a 52 COE, model A front spring and bones. Have a good set of wire wheels, banjo steering wheel (needs much TLC!) and other parts. We like our T5 in the roadster (also a flathead) so much we have another one for this build.

Will use as many old parts as possible but will definitely go with a fiberglass body - for exactly the same reasons you described. It's the only choice for us.

Congratulations! The car is looking GOOD.

  4. Just curious, is the title based on the chassis number or was there a number assigned to the body by the manufacturer?

It's assigned to the original chassis number . That's why the vin is stamped on the frame and the transmission.

I went over to my buddies house today... Earlier I boxed and blasted a 33 3 window frame that he is working on... I traced his original glass for the doors . Made myself a nice template just to make sure my window tracks are correct .
I also scored a mint, and I mean original paint, no bicks or scratches mint, 34 hold and side panels!!! He offered them to me at a smoking deal... But I can't pick them up till his correct 33 hood gets here.
I'm excited as hell that I got an entire setup that looks that good.. Now all I need is a steel deck lid .. Some louvers and we will be set!

 so i came a cross a steel body that i could afford..... i have been chatting with the gentleman about it and we were working on a a price agreement. i let him know id call him tomorrow, (today) and then i could wire the money.. he replys with "sorry i sold the body last night"

i guess in my eyes it would have been nice to have been made aware of this and i could have bumped up an offer or something! you cant do any type of money transfer on a sunday:mad:

Window tracks are compete! 3/4 tubing .060 wall that I trimmed the one face off. Pie cut it several times and fit it to the door. Welded the slices up and it perfect. I bought 5/8 weather strip that goes right inside nice and tight .... Something cannot be correct because this went way to smooth

That's exactly how I did mine. The channels are pretty strong.

I also bent up 2 channels from sheet metal and made them fit the outside of the window frame. They are welded to the track to keep it square and true. These will also hold the widow regulator so the stress is not on the fiberglass door to crank the window up. I plan on attaching it into the door with panel adhesive and then a series of 1/4 stainless rivets that will be covered by a door panel.
I want to hear the doors close like a steel car. Not like they are plastic

You are going to have a really nice Hot Rod when done. I like that you didn't go with power windows. I assume there won't be any cup holders either?

Subscribed! I'm doing a glass 34 tudor. It also looks stock from the outside (exposed hinges, crank out windshield, working cowl vent). Mine was full fendered and had IFS. I took off all the fenders and cut out the IFS. I'm getting a lot of ideas from your thread. Thanks for sharing good useful tips and keep up the great work.

Here is a link to my build.

A hot rod cup holder is a roll of gaffer tape.

The front and back channels are parallel? They don't look so in the pics, but it may just be a weird camera angle?

Today was a long day. We finished all the mud work to smooth out the inner door .. I have no garnish moldings so I had to make the inner door mold to the window channel, and it came out great!! We fit the door on the car and latched it!! Wahoo progress! Waiting for someone to make me glass and we will be ready for the passenger side door

They are parallel. It's a weird illusion. There is a lot of different angles that throw your eyes off.. I measure everything a dozen times to be sure! Lol

Round two.... Now I'm experienced at it, this will go a lot faster .. I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel this time like I was with the first.. I've had a lot of good help from the hamb on how to build these doors. I'm stoked on how well they are coming out ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1388295073.054985.jpg

I told my wife I have to go buy better materials for the passenger door...... She asked me why, so I blurted out. " because you slam the shit out of it".
