There was a local bank that had a ambulance like this back in the 60's that hauled all their equipment,,always made a grand entrance. HRP
I don't think you would be too concerned with the ambiance of the ambulance,I think you would more focused on stabilization of the patient......
Back in high school in the 60s, I played drums in a rock and roll band and we bought a 48 Caddy ambulance for $200 from the local vol. fire dept., when they updated, to haul our equip. in. Had to tape off the red lens' and disable the siren but left it as it was otherwise. Talk about a boat!
Back then, they didn't do much about stabilizing the patient, it was about getting them to the hospital. The driver and the helper both sat in front.
I was thinking, not so much the ambiance but the space restrictions, though I would like it to have a nice 'vibe!' Doc.
In the mid fifties when I was in the bicycle riding age there was an old hospital in L.A. on Santa Monica Bl and Hoover. In the back of the hospital in the parking lot was a 30's Packard ambulance sitting unused for years. I always drooled over that ambulance, I wish I had it now.
Cad looks to be '50-'53. I brought one very similar after I got out of Navy in Long Beach. It had three on the tree and still had the fold down jump seats on inside. (No lights or siren because it was ex-Navy). It was a PARTY BUS! I could haul parts or ass once it got up to speed. Clutch went out while I was living in Cruz and it was a bitch to get under that thing and pull back that three foot long trans, and then try to wiggle it back into pilot bearing in the dark with flashlights and on a gravel driveway! But trip down to TJ with my posse swigging Italian Swiss Colony white port and lemon juice made up for skinned greasy knuckles. It ran like a champ after that. Nine of us went down, but only 8 came back! That's about all I remember of the Sixties.....
I think it's a '54 or '55, based on the front fender, headlamp treatment, rear bumper. Nicely preserved, whatever it is.
Friend of mine in high school was the drummer in a band also, his younger brother was the bass player. Their band wagon was a 55 Pontiac Hearse, completely stock, silver with a fake, black, vinyl top. Still had the "rollers" in the back, made loading/unloading easier. Butch/56sedandelivery.
I picked up this '56 Pontiac a few years back. I don't have any real plans for it right now but it's pretty neat!

Anybody know anything about the faith of echto 1? I saw a small note in a Danish car mag. They noted that the car was left outside in a parkinglot at Sony (?). From 2007 til now, being relieved for vital parts. :-( I know this is threat hi-jacking. But my dad use to be employee at Company as driver of towtrucks, firefighter and para-medic. So all things related gets my attension! That is two cool ambulances! Please post more if you got 'em.
