Got me a new toy coming my way. Hope to have it home by Christmas... It's a 40 Ford Coupe. Barn find. It's got a Mercury flathead in it, hasn't ran in several years with dual exhaust out the rear. Everything else is original. Body is very solid, drip rails are good, needs patch panels in the doors and some floor board work. I know there are 1000 different ways to go with these cars. don't have a ton of money to throw at it right now. May get the flathead running, rebuild the brakes, patch the doors and floor and drive it. One of these days I'll do it up right.
Nice score. One of my all time favorite cars. Just keep it a simple hot rod. 40's are hard to turn into a custom and get it right. Hopped up flatty, dropped axle, gauges, you got yourself a GREAT hot rod.
Your plan to start sound perfect. Remember money doesn't always mean fun. Get it running and have fun...................
I was eyeballing that car on Craigslist, but the guy said he had a down payment. Glad it went to a fellow HAMB guy, looks like a hell of a nice car. Good luck, -Abone. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Nice score Clip; I think I would go with a disc brake kit (safety), and upgrade the steering with a Saginaw box (again safety). 12V and drive it as is. I'm a '40 guy, but I'm starting to like the "survivor" look. Keep us posted. Steve
Hell yes...one of my favorites since seeing Robert Mitchum (sp) drive one in Thunder Road when I was about 11. Your plan sound perfect!
Great find! One of my favorite rides of all time. I'd do it up just like you said.... Keep us posted....
........Don't remember Mitchum driving a '40, but his fellow moonshiner Niles Pendlin drove a '40 Standard Coupe. Mitchum drove a '50 2dr Sedan and later a '57.
GREAT SCORE GUY!!! Make it a safe driver and have tons of fun in it and thats not hard to do in a 40.
