I HAVE seen those before, isn't that one of those new hybrids? Good mileage in town and a ton of towing power, wow, how cool is that to finally see one up close?
Does i have a v drive like a boat. It looks to far back, a friend of mine has a ford falcon pick up with the engine in the rear but ahead of the rear end.
Its one of those new Green engines from goverment. Its gonna leave you stranded on the side of the road.Lol
I'd like to know how they did the steering or the exhaust, whats the two holes on the front of the intake for? Where did you get that pic?, what does it say below it?
That there is the GM project code named "Kraut" (not PC now, but in 53...). In 52 GM execs were seeing the rise of the then fairly new Volkswagen in Europe. Starting in 1953 they made several prototypes, all of which I thought had been destroyed. This project eventually became the much loved Corvair seven years later in 1960. There were many technical reasons for the truck platform, not the least of which was the easy access to the open frame rails under the bed. Of course the wood was removed to allow quick access to the drive components. The setup under the hood was a silly practical joke from some of the engineers on the project.
^ ^ ^ Awww C'mon! No comments? Personally I think I'm hilarious regardless of my wife telling me I'm not.
That's a GM factory photo from 1954. It's an pre production 265 engine. The photo was in a collection from a long time GM employee. The writting is a description by the employee...dated 1955.
Lmao ! You know, if several people who don't know each other say the same things - there's probably something there for you to look at.
I was interested in the REAL "experimental" GM pic too. Blew it up.....hard to read....... Think it says: "Early v8 casting dated ***** ....significant overall differences from production ******... stamp pad, manifolds, heads are stamped 'dummy' which means there weren't any passages inside. This engine is shown inside a truck chassis as evidenced by the leaf springs". Best I could do with the glare. BTW: There was a supposed "Experimental" 265 for sale in Washington State for YEARS............. in all the classifieds.
