Look at it if it was a diesel. Low rpm high torque and gear accordingly. Remember Cecil Cummings place pole at Indy

You can go to the Boro, but there's a way better place. But I think it's BYOB.

    This is so cool, subscribed...
Great to hear some traditional ol'timer advice. Imagine all the guys just sittin around that have old banger supercharger secrets in their heads, but can't share it on HAMB.
If you know someone, get some notes & keep passing down the tradition!
Hope I can find some dusty treasures to get my A Banger supercharged someday.

I did some cleaning on both today and too and did a little mocking up to see if it will really work. It just may.

Found a few things I'm gonna have to work out. Will have to make a taller dipstick.

The blower has oil lines to it and will need a return line. On the graham the return was part of the mount to the block.

Another problem is the blower was heated on the Graham. There are no water outlets on this motor. There is one plug in the side of the block and that's it. I think I can get away without it.

Pulleys, fan and lower radiator hose will all be problems to work out.

Up side is I think I have the mounting of the supercharger figured out.

    Hey Clark;

Why can't you tap off of the head, or run the head outlet (partially) thru the blower heat port? I think you may want the heated blower housing. It'll help drive-ability, fuel-vaporization, etc. It's gonna be a neat set-up.

NoboD set me up with a magneto for the motor....It's gonna help big time. The distributor was getting in the way of additional pulleys.
I'm gonna have to move the generator but it was already in the way of headers. Would be great if I could run it off of the governor area. If not it will get moved over with the blower

Unfortunately it will be a little while before I do much more than collect parts....gotta get a car done for Detroit

The mag has to protrude from the passenger side of the car.. and the Blower MUST protrude from the driver side.. seriously.. they must.. both are just so damn cool

I see it mounts backwards from the 8N. Doesn't that reverse the direction, I have to think about that? Does it matter which way a mag turns?

noboD...I was wondering the same thing. And I did some research on cams and it looks like all of them have the fuel pump lobe.

Ask somebody that really knows about rotation. BUT I asked a racer today and he didn't think it mattered, hope it works out. BTW, the warranty is void if you turn it backwards.

I had to reverse direction of my Scintilla Vertex mag for my Chrysler. (it was originally on an Olds)
The stator is directional, as are the advance flyweights...(re: Roger Gleason, Joe Hunt Magnetos)

Nobod....I think it's the same. Now it's run on the front of the cam. In the other position it would be on a gear run off of the cam. If it was mounted on the front it would run backwards....but flip it to the back side and it rotates the same.

Either way I'll make sure the stator is set up correctly when I have it checked out.

    Atwater...thanks for the info

Grahamsc....cool!! Could you take a pic of the lower side of the blower. I could use some help with the plumbing of the oil.
Mac....no clue on the grill. I've been searching with no luck. It's narrowed and shortened.

Grahamsc...thanks!! The only thing else I could use is a measurement of the crank pulley that drive the blower. Not sure if I will be under or overdriving it

  30. Clark, could you post a pic from the front? might be able to help you ID the shell :)

Really looking forward to seeing how things come together with your project!
