http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=260588&page=7 Chris has a nice setup on page 7 of his thread. Read the whole thing though if you have some time as he does some really great work. I followed a similar direction for my setup.
Here's a couple of pics of how I did my Sport Coupe. The car was so low the column ended up through the dash. It had great lines of site and sat well. I couldn't get a pitman arm the right length so I fabbed one, Pics tell the story. Used the Mopar box and everything else was home made.
I've read every thing I could find on the HAMB for the past two years on cowl steering and the best I've found is on Guernsey boy's build thread for his Model A coupe. Find his build thread and look starting about page 16. Ted
That pitman arm looks way cool, I like the pontiac emblem good touch! ps ya should fix your pictures so they are verticle instead of horizontal.
the box pictured is 60,s to 75 mopar non power. does not require reversing and you can achieve just about any ratio you like. I cowl steered several with good results.
What 60s to 75 mop at box? What cars would I need to look in? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I sold the project before it was 100 % street ready. When it was finished, the guy who bought it did add a support bearing. I told him too, and at first it wasn't done and it did have movement.
