I got the intake today and couldn't help putting it on. The 2 2-barrel Idea isnt going to work unless I make the hood into a 3 piece and I don't want to do that. I may end up using a 4-barrel or coming up with another idea, which I may have a few;). there will be some other issues but nothing that can't be solved with a little ingenuity.

Friday I decided to pull the car all apart so that I could step the back of the frame for more suspension travel. I borrowed a friend's frame bench. Saturday morning I put the frame up on the bench. I made a pattern of what I wanted the frame to do. I then used 4X2 tubing and made all the pieces. I made some backing plates to go in the corners for extra support. I plug welded the plates into the tubing and proceded to weld the tubing together. I then cut the frame rails and fit the new rails and tacked them into place. I welded it all up and then welded the steering box mount in. I then took the frame off the bench and put the suspension and engine back in.

Wow, that was a lot of work, it looks great, and I'm sure you will enjoy the extra clearance in the rear axle area...Jim

Good man, you certainly got plenty of patience. Whats the deal with that panhard type bar from your dif-head. Flag that. I see it's just sitting there unbolted.

Most of the way finished with the header. Waiting for 3 bolt header flanges to finish it off

Ive been slowly working on the car. I made new brackets for the panhard and welded them on. I have also been cleaning up all the brake parts and putting them together with new shoes and cylinders. Tonight I finally finished up the drivers side header since I got the flanges now.

I made another section of exhaust tonight. It has 2 tabs wedled to it with rubber mounts. I also welded a larger pipe on the one end so I can slide the other section of pipe into it

my engine builder machined a new rear blower plate that allows me to run the alternator off the back of the blower. I later bought a finned alternator and put that on. I found some came up with some Studebaker back draft carburetors. Hopefully the carbs will give me the clearance I need to keep everything under the hood. I made one air cleaner out of a '36 horn grille. I also bought a MSD distributor for it which will eventually get a black cap instead of the red.

I built the passenger header. I built all of the exhaust for the drivers side. I have the passenger exhaust built up to the frame kickup. I will be getting the rest of the bends I need to finish it up sometime next week.

  26. Kellan, it's great to see you are back to work on the 36! As usual, top notch ideas and workmanship. The Stude carbs are waaaay cool! What year did they use them on? Where did you find the finned alternator? You didn't steal it off Gene's roadster did you?

Found the alternator on eBay. I believe the carbs are from 51-53 but I'm not 100% certain on that
