Thanks a lot brother! to be honest I wasn't exactly looking for a fordor but this one came up at a good price and was in such good condition that I couldn't pass it up. I sold my 64 Belair coupe to buy it. The 4 doors are actually handy and have finally grown on me

Very Hip Shoebox! The minute I saw it I knew you were from back East! Very traditional Eastern rod: Skirts, Mooncovers, Visor and I don't know what's inside. (I grew up in NY and that's what I remember as a kid.) I came out to Cal in '62 and seldom saw Visors or skirts or rods lowered in the back. That stuff was considered too Cholo and shied away from by the white boys. (Not going racist all you PC libs, just saying how it was.)
Rods were lowered in the FRONT! What? Yea ,they called it Dagoed ! But not what you think. (There I go again...Don't know why they called it that.)

Don't change a thing! I think it is perfect. Well, maybe you could shave that gnarley hood ornament and throw it in a box under the work bench.

I've got a '51 biz Coupe that is also going in that Eastern tradition. I'd put it on my avatar, but wanted something keeping with the Christmas Season. Something everyone would like to find under their tree! (Most everyone, that is!) The '51 is after the New Year.
Thought I would keep a Great Thread longer!!

Dago = dropped axle, true. But I have always heard that it was because they were dropped in San Diego by Ed "Axle" Stewart.

I'm too young to remember as I was born in San Diego in '71, but my dad was there and a big San Diego hot rodder and this was what he always told me.

Here is a photo of my 49 with my Grandson. I have beat the hell out of it and put about 25k on it just going to shows and runs. It is not bagged and does scrape a lot but I drive it anywhere. Been to Viva, Paso, Reno HAN, Glendale, Frisco, Autorama, Midnight Mass and all over the central valley. Running a 302 with a C4 and it will get 22 MPG on the road. Road Dog Denair

I wrestled with the 4 door thing too (trying to work a deal with a guy on one close to home). All my other cars are 2 doors so it would be nice to have just one with easy access to the back seat.

    Love the black, sharp!

Lol, I can't decide if those hood ornaments look like some guy with a mohawk or a roman helmet... or a roman with a mohawk!

Keep the pedestrian slicer Scott, might come in handy if road rage sets it.

I just sold my 50 coupe. I think I used more Kleenex for my tears than I went through as a teenager

blackdog: I just sold my 50 coupe.

Now you can either go stand in the corner for 3 hours staring at a picture of a '57 Chevy side trim, or stay after class and write "I am a Bad Blackdog for selling my Shoebox!" on the blackboard 500 times. Then Betty will spank you!

thanks! the inside is redone in all grey cloth including headliner, no mods other than a moon chrome ball shift knob. oh and the prior owner took out the original radio and installed a crappy 80s tape deck (currently working on sourcing an original radio to put it back to stock). the side moldings and badges are shaved. i actually like the hood ornament, its like a crazy mohawk or something LOL

thanks man. that back seat IS comfy :D

Nice. I'm also partial to the wood-clad cars. Here's my 51 with 49 front group.

I'm doing another one a 50 this time.
