Racing a Ford out of a Dodge agency? That's just wrong. Should've shoehorned a Fast Four into the Ford chassis.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Nearly as blasphemous as running a Chevy, ain't it? ;)

I've got a Dodge frame and I know where there's a Dodge touring body. The only Dodge engine I have is a 413 ci flathead six. Probably wouldn't touch that supercharged T.

Blasphemy sir! Dave....I'm surprised at you....

    :D

....then again, you ARE putting an early Chevy motor in a T touring with a really awesome plan....so I guess I can't be TOO mad.... ;)

Probably not. The Galavan DOHC head was putting out 175 hp on the T motor.....275 with a blower.

Here's a proper race car for a Dodge Agency.

  19. What a great pic! Do you have any more info on it, Dave?

Clayton, I saw (in Jerry's Giant Sppedster thread) that you picked up an early Hupp- any pics/plans?

I did Mac! I had purchased the reminents of a '17 Hupp Model N touring (which are rather rare) that was pretty rotted and most of the important parts were missing. I had been told that a fellow up north from me was a Hupp collector who had tons of parts and is a really nice guy that would go out of his way to help a fellow true enthusiast.

I made the 1 hour+ drive North and he was exactly how he was discribed.....the nicest guy I have ever met. He had 3 large building...each 60' by 300' long and all were jammed with stuff....all sorted neatly by year. I have never seen so much Model N stuff in one place. After digging a bit and showing him pictures of my car (or what was left) he says "you could certainly piece a car together, but I doubt I have everything.....what you really need is something more complete to start with"

He motions me over to a complete 1916 Model N touring sitting in the corner. "I wasn't gonna sell this car, but if your interested in something complete.....I would make you a deal on this one"

"What did you have in mind?" I ask...

    "Oh.....I think $1,000 is fair"......

Needless to say, I made the deal for it right on the spot.

I have a few pics, but they are not great. I am planning to make another trip after the first to sort out everything and make sure it's all there. I will get better pics then

Plan is a full, authentic resto....or a complete resto disguised as original, aged survivor :D

That is the idea! I have always had a thing for the 1916-17 Model N....Hupp's only "large car" of the pre-1925 era that was produced 1916 and 1917 only. I have also been fortunate to have allot of experiance with the Becker's '17....so I'm not a stranger.

This early '16 car (lowest sn# I have ever seen) was far too good to pass up. It will be perfect for curising with the family.

Where did you get those hose clamps from? That's one of the little details I need to find for my current project.

The Hupp looks like quite a project!

The clamps are correct reproductions and came with the hose kit. You can buy them from any of the antique for distributors: Snyder's, Lang's or Chaffin's Garage. What are you working on?

The Hupp is a project, but it's complete and that is half the battle.

I snagged it off Facebook this morning and there was no explanation. It was posted by the Montana Dodge Boys Fast Four Special (MoparMontana on the HAMB) with the caption "This is my all-time favorite DODGE Speedster photo. Thanks to Bob Scafani in Fremont, CA for this one. Does anyone have any info on this photo?"

Thanks Turkey! They are pretty simple and cheap to build, but a heck of allot of fun :)

I think you would get a kick out of building one. If you decide to get into one of these early cars, let me know....would be happy to pass on any knowledge, advice or help that I can!

Thanks, I figured they were a specialty part but I wanted to check. I'm working on a '26 T roadster as well.
