The last weekend and a half have been a real bummer. I ended up at a Hospital with stomach and gas pains.!! Really bad ones!! About a week ago they did a procedure and removed a Gall Stone and Bile. The Drs said the Bile, which should have been kinda green in color, was thick, and dark black like old motor oil; I was kinda lucky, as this crap was poisoning my old tired body!!!!! I do feel much better now; still need to sell these Diecasts if you know of anybody interested. Thanks everybody!!!!

As far as Weld Tech I'm not sure. Might be Kenny's daughter. I know Greg's son Taylor has a lot to do with the day to day at Weld Wheels. Any time I'm around the family there's more beer drinkin' and less shop talk.

 

Here is one more for you. It's a 1939 Dreyer, flathead ford powered. We rescued the car from South Jersey. The car came with local dirt track racing history. It's presently owned By Scott Ebert who actively race's it with VSCCA. I previously restored the car with my X-Father-in-Law, John Jacobson and drove it to several victories. Unfortunately I have not been involved with VSCCA for some time, so I don't see the guys too much any more. Mt. Equinox hillclimb was always a blast. I drove the Dreyer up a bunch of times

 

The Dreyer has 16" - 35' ford wire wheels. We ran Dunlops when I drove it. Maybe 6.50's, but can't recall. We shaved and re-grooved the tread with a tire lathe on the new tires to make them stick better and last longer.

Not sure what tires Scott has on there now, but from these pictures, they don't look like Dunlops.

Weld Tech is very well run by Kenny's daughter, although I believe his widow Mary is still involved a little. Taylor Weld is NOT involved in Weld Wheels in any way, the company was sold before Greg's death and has been sold again since then.

Probably shouldn't leave out Dizz Wilsons 71/ J. White etc. or the Purvis ECCA car/ McCluskey/Unser.

 

What was the difference between the "super-modified" cars and a sprint car?

What was the difference in a sprint car and a Championship Sprint car?

 

No such thing as a Championship sprint car. This might help explain:

 

Depending on the area and Assn. that the Super modifieds ran there were various differences. The one that was universal was having a roll cage and usually a roof. Some Assn. required self starting/clutch and even a trans. sometimes. Wheelbase were often longer than sprints at 90-100".
