How many companies built 5 spoke wheels in the 60's?

I had a set of M/T , they where chrome plated aluminum , I think the tire manufacturers back then used these made out of plastic to advertised their tires , I also had a set of Holywood mags they were steel rim with aluminum centers , to this day I have never seen another one

 

Normally, I would just use the American D300's but since this is going to be a street car, I need a std mount instead of a spindle mount.

60's Ansen 5 Spoke bought from KiwiKev. He said they were the exact ones as what's on his Willys.

 

Those have a bolt on center cap, whereas ours looks to have a setup similar to the Cragar wheels...?

Just bought a pair of 14x6" Speed Engineering (Radir lookalikes) for $30.
Hope they clear disc brakes....but,I doubt it?

Spacers may help. I used about a 1/4" to clear my torque thrusts.

 

I just got some 14" old 5 spokes and placed one over my disc brakes on my 55(believe they are gbody) and fits fine I was pleasantly surprised got 2 15" and 2 14" and they were cheap so I was ready to not use them now I can.

 

Don't forget Astro Wheels. They did the Supremes and a slotted wheel.

While you're on the subject Could someone help me ID these rims? Just picked these up tonight. Kinda look like some older Keystones I've seen someplace. They are light, so I'm guessing Aluminum or Magnesium.

These are E.T. III. Originally had the 5 ear center cap with the green ET in the circle (not the oval ones you see showing up on EBay)

Yes those are the caps for those wheels. They were from the early 1970'S. Yours look like 14",correct? The 15" have a little bit different lip on them. They turn up every now and then but the 15" are a bit harder to find. I used to have set of four a few years ago. I had a collection of over 200 wheels til I lost my job a few years ago and had to sell off most of them. Been dealing in wheels for years. Thanks

 

Lets add IMCO and Superior...I believe the Superiors were known as Cal Chrome...they had the cool archer in a chrome center cap like a Cragar SS cap...

I think we called them flat-spoked ETs or Iron Crosses (because they looked a lot like the Schiender logo)
.... I always liked them but I think they came from sears or Pep Boys and that was usually laughed at.

 

I don't think so. I have a set of ET III's(without the bolt) for one of my Anglias and the spoke is shaped different (rounder) where it meets the rim and the window looks smaller. Not unilug either.


................................Let's start over, mine with the different spokes are ET III - 5 Window. But the true ET III's were a two piece, bolt together wheel, weren't they? That's the reason they had the bolts in the spokes.

 

Larry T, only the original 16" rear for drag slicks were a true 2 piece bolt together wheel. Was done that way so you could change slicks and or tubes yourself at the track easier. Again the lip and spoke shape were slightly different depending on wheel size. The later repops I think had fake bolts cast in some of them also to look like a 2 piece but were really a 1 piece wheel. Kelsey-Hayes bought E.T. WHEELS in the 80'S and still made E.T. wheels long before Team 3 came to market. The original III design came out in the late 60'S. K.S. Pittman used E.T. III on the back of his metalflake '33

Was 1972? Memories of that era get kinda mixed up for some reason.

I don't really know. Here's what the Cruzer wheels look like and what my (dirty and needs cleaning) ETs with the bolt delete look like.

 

Ansen's on the front, Crestline Mark 2's on the rear.

 

Old Thread -interesting - any current values on M/T 15"x6" 5 1/2 Ford pattern 5 spoke all aluminum wheels (like torque thrust) from early 60's in good condition?
