Technical Leadless body solder

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by I_be_moose, Nov 2, 2013.

  1. I am continuing the body repairs on my Coupe.

Does anyone have experience using the "leadless" solders now available?

Can it be applied over existing lead solder?

I still have a few sticks of 30/70 BUT want to explore options...

    Thanks

    Hey,
These solders require more heat to melt, and would be tough to melt over 30/70............not an option I'd wanna explore;)

I agree, melting temperatures are very different. If i were in your shoes i would be more opt to melt the old lead out and start from scratch or use lead bases solder, but even then I might start from scratch to ensure adhesion.
