1961 Corvette Fuelie found sitting in actual "Hog Shed" in South Dakota 2013. Engine was changed out for a 57 Fuelie 290HP engine in 1968. Custom painted in 1974 by 19 yr old "Richie" before fresh Red Velvet seats & door panels. Electric windows, 4 speed, tape deck on pass grab bar, headers & International wheels. Sat since 1984 outside under a open "Hog Shed" until 6 months ago. Farm cats called the Corvette home for 28 years!!! I bought the car last week & will fluff it to it's past glory!
Hi, I was looking for a cool Corvette. Happened to look on line & WAMMO there it was. Now resting in my garage, plan to show it as is at Cinncinatti Cavalcade of Customs show in January. Corvette will be in Josh Shaw "Barn Find - AS Found" area down stairs.
Cruisin the drag in a custom FI Corvette, Shiny new paint , top removed, two beers in your belly, Joplin on the 8 track, Doesn't get any better than that!
Damn, that's about as cool as it gets, major score! What's it say on the right rear deck, looks like the painter signed that masterpiece!
Painkiller, Corvette came with an 8 track tape Beach Boys "Buddy Gonna Shut You Down" Thought it strange mounting point for an 8 track? Also has speakers mounted in rear flip top panel. Maybe it was to please his girl friend? Slowmotion, "Paint by Richie" Richie Ludens (Springfield S.D.) who was 17 when asked to make the Corvette look like a car in "Hot Rod Mag" Thanks, Bob
Way nice find. Good for you... And it appears really nice for having the Cats in it for all those years !!
Congrats on a great find! Sure looks like the '70s! The paint is really cool, but with kitties on the red velvet for almost 30 years I'm guessing a new interior is probably a good idea! Kind of amazing that it escaped without fender flares and six taillights...
..I know a similar one sitting in my hometown, it is a 59, in a garage, someone I know owns it, been after it for years, was a 60s drag car, 427 435hp motor in it, nicely done metal dash etc...maybe one day I can get it
great find , that paint is wild as heck. clean it up , make it safe and drive it. much much more interesting than a fully restored ''so called correct vette" IMO.
BOSTONCAMERO, I will follow your plan to clean up the paint, brakes, interior & what ever the drive train needs. I called & talked to the painter Richie who told me the paint is laquer that will buff up great. Richie used red pearl in the final clear coat which should really pop in the sun. Good luck buying your local Corvette, Bob
I LOVE the Paint job, are you going to keep it that way? I hope you post some more pictures of the paint job, maybe some closer..... Congratulations!
Pretty cool find, especially with the fuel unit still intact. Remember the old styles of paint-yours looks pretty cool. Good luck-Jim
