Im going to be doing some work on the Mexicali in the next few weeks. I want it to be all done (at least in bare metal or primer) and running early next year. That's the plan anyway! So far I've chopped 2 '40 mercs, 1 '39 merc, and currently chopping 2 more '40's. Then two more 40 Mercs are on the way! Yeah, I think by the time im done there wont be any unchopped coupes left, haha. Hopefully there's one in the Ford museum so we can see what they originally looked like someday!!

Charlie Hascall Posted this picture on Facebook. I don't really know the story about it but I think Charlie built it. I love 36's with blackwall tires for some reason. Such a tough looking coupe!

  10. Awesome thread. How about this one I found while looking for something else. Does Al Torelli's '49 Olds fit?

Charlie sent me a few more pics of his 36 coupe. He's currently got it pulled apart and painting it gloss black.

Right handed driver side too! (Awesome photoshop too) Have to hand it to you Kevan, your '40 Mercury Custom will be iconic for years to come. Glad to see Charlie Haskel still crafting the early style Hot Rods and Customs, always dug his low green '29 roadster p-up.

Hey Kevin, thanks for the update on the Mexicali merc. When I get my 39/40 merc I am sending it your way. Hopefully I won't be dead by the time I buy one.

Wishing I was on the salt watching some fast cars go by me!!!!!!!

This was on Ebay a couple weeks ago. Basically stock, just lowered with the right hubcaps and tires.

At the risk of being accused of 'heresy', I need to ask. Are there cars built or under construction that would follow this fantastic style of early customs with the exception of using a T5 and floor shift? Just asking.......(and it will give a bump to the thread!)

My '46 had a t-5 with floor shift (fun) when I got it..
It started whining and making noise so I replaced with with a th350 (boring)

Boy.. I sure miss that 5 speed...

  27. Those would fall into the category Ryan is calling "Traditionally Styled" cars; acceptable on the HAMB, but don't discuss the "non-traditional" portions:

Guidelines for that forum are given in the first sticky post.
