Well I got two more 40 Merc coupes Im working on. The burgundy one is owned my good friend Jason Hodge and the green one is owned by new friend Nathan Jaggard from the U.K. Both of these cars are really nice originals!

We started on Jason's burgundy car first. He wanted to be totally involved in the process so he's doing much of the work with my supervision.

Jason's car will have the same chop as my Merc so we were able to go off of patterns which saves a lot of time.

Then I raised the front windshield into the roof which gets rid of the big Forehead look.

Then it was time to cut out the back window and chop the roof off.

Nice work! I have a question. Did you cut the front windshield on the red Merc like the green one? I really like the rear window will it be a slide out like the Matranga Merc?

Nice to see you kickin ass on those '40 Mercs and doing what you love. Too bad Edsel Ford can't see how the '39/'40 Merc coupe should have looked! :)

  19. Great work Kevan! You're quickly becoming the expert on a good looking Merc chop. If only I had one, I'd send it your way...

Kev, are you out to single handedly reconture every remaining 40 Merc. on the planet? I hope so FOMOCO sure didn't get it right.

hahaha, I know it looks like we did all this in a couple days but it's been a few months off and on working. I just didn't want to start the thread with nothing done.

Yes Jason's (red merc) windshield was also raised and I will add more pics of that. yeah It will most likely have slide in windows like Matranga.

Ha ha... Man, you're crazy! This will make our cars be the most common kustom car on the street within a few years.

Love the work, Kevan. It looks really great!

I have wondered for a long time how you got rid of what you call "the big forehead look" on the 39-40 Mercs, because it seems like it was there in the Barris-chopped Mercs of those years.(Andril, etc..)...finally I realize how it is done, thanks!
