  3. That would work too, if I had anything left of mine to go on!

Whose subrails did you buy? And how's the fit on those???

Those cowl feet are made by the same person...Tom Bay. Those wheelhouse patches that SAR sells for 500 a set are the same ones sold at Howell's, also made by Tom Bay.

  7. I wondered about that. I bought my rockers and cowl patches from Tom Bay last year. They seem like good pieces (though I am not far enough along to try to fit them ) and the prices were reasonable. I fully expect to have to do some fitting with any patches I buy.

Me TOO on making 5-w coupe from a 4-door. I got a '34 Stude, just need to find some (Ford?) rear quarter tops and trunk and I shall GO>
Scary, but excited I finally get my coupe!

Now, if I can just sell the '49 Chevy, the Rambler, the '37 Coupe, the Henry J, the Corvette...

I seriously doubt that Howells is selling other guys products but I will ask Dave Howell next time I see him.

Resurrecting this thread and shooting to get this car done for next years Race Of Gentlemen! Andy Kohler(Thunderbirdesq on Hamb) did this conversion which inspired me to do the same..I hope to tap Andy for his guidance on the chopped top when I get to that point..
I've made progress on the car but neglected to post it here so here's some updates..

33pics 003 (Small).jpg Mounted cowl loosely to frame and remounted the B pillars.Holes in Subs were incorrect so I had to redrill them..Set the doors back on just to mock it up.This all has to come back off for the floors which will be next step.

33pics 002 (Small).jpg 33pics 003 (Small).jpg 33pics 004 (Small).jpg Floor time! In an effort to move this along I opted to buy a floor kit from a supplier..Well,like most other bits it need some love to fit right..The second section had to be cut apart and re welded plus the kick=up area didn't match the subrails at all so more massaging was needed..Added the front section, welded and ground smooth so it looks like one piece..Subrails go over the floors on a 34 (I almost put them under the floors!) and used my old spot welder to install.

33pics 038 (Small).jpg 33pics 035 (Small).jpg With the floor/subrails installed I remounted the cowl loosely and B pillars, hung the doors and started see the shape of a coupe emerging! I geeked out and just started clamping stuff together to see how it was gonna look..
Enough for today..I'll post more tomorrow..

33pics 003 (Small).jpg 33pics 005 (Small).jpg 33pics 006 (Small).jpg Time to start fixing the race car quarter I picked up last year..First I reworker some of the damaged metal and trimmed for the end pieces..These fit pretty good.only one small pie slice to get the contour right..

33pics 011 (Small).jpg 33pics 020 (Small).jpg 33pics 013 (Small).jpg 33pics 019 (Small).jpg 33pics 021 (Small).jpg drivers side was a little bit rougher so it required more cuttin and slicing..started hammer and dollying the old damage out but more work is needed..I wanted/needed to get the 1/4's set on the body so I could finish the rear floor/subrails otherwise there was no way I could figure if all this would line up correctly. As it turned out the rear floor pannel needed to be shortened about 2 inches to meet the rear panel properly and leave room for the fuel tank.
