A stock 318 Poly will walk all over a stock LA 318. They're a great engine... a little heavy for their size and weight but still very nice running engines.

The Weiands are a little cheaper than $1,000. Even the ones posted on ebay above in the $400-500 range seem a little high. I found one on my local CL for $120, sold it on ebay for $350 (plus $150 shipping to Aus). Paid $1200 for a complete P600 tripower with all newly rebuilt carbs, linkage and air cleaners.

  4. have driven most poly/LA's in my Mopars for years - currently have a 318/2 poly in the wagon and the old boat sure goes down the road pretty swift....

my D300 truck gets around pretty good with a 318 and my oldest poly - a 277/2 (an in plant) in my Fury just won't give up....

53 COE, thanks for your support!
Just so folks don't get confused by the photo, the new manifold will have a valley cover and t-stat housing as well as bosses for injection/NOX.

  12. Go fast parts are out there, but we are sure proud of them. You can find good deals here and there. I have a bone stock 318 Poly with the 2 barrel and it hauls my Fury around just fine. I would like to get the 4 barrel intake for it, but until the prices go down, I will keep the stock intake on it. I have an adapter to put a 4 barrel on it, but it ran like crap.

Now would be the time for anyone left holding a Weiand 4 barrel to sell it for a ridiculous number, and then go buy the improved 4 barrel version.

Well, to be fair the $1025 manifold was allegedly brand new without the box. It looked like it. But for christsakes that's still way out there in my book. I got a deal, but about 5 years ago I bought a Weiand dual quad manifold locally for $200 and chopped it up into a blower manifold.

A nice tripower setup sold for $1500 a bit ago, but then again I believe that number is more realistic considering it had carbs and was essentially ready to run.

That one I thought was fair. I bought the exact same setup from the exact same seller about 2 years ago for $1250

Have not run it yet though.

I've had five of them over the years. They had great driveability with good performance and excellent gas mileage. All were automatics with a 3:23 rear gear. The last one, a 65 Dodge Coronet 500 convt. , I tore apart and added a reground cam, four barrel, electronic ingnition and milled heads and I think it provided the same performance as say a 300 HP chevy small block. It really needed headers to attain more performance.

I am working with a race engine builder on a 394 stroker poly. We spent some serious time (and money) porting the head till we felt we came up with good flow #'s without getting too aggressive. Then the ports were digitized and programed into the CNC machine and heads ported from that program. With the CNC porting all ports come out the same. We needed to sleeve the pushrods which came out very nice. We hit 1 water jacket but it was a intake port so it was patched up. We ran 3 different head flows. 11/32 and 5/16 valves on the hand ports then digitized these ports.CNC then done for these final #'s, 5/16 with some additional valve work. Here are the flow #'s all 28" with 1.94"' intake and 1.625 exhaust.[IMG]

The Weiand 7503 went for over $700 bucks.

It looks like maybe it is a dual plane manifold, but each "plane" is one bank of cylinders. Like a cross ram with very short runners.
I'll have to look thru my old Almquist catalog to see if that was a popular style, since I did not notice it before.

The fellow that sold it is on the yahoo barracuda group.
He paid what he thought was a lot for it several years ago, and when it brought over 700 bucks recently he said "Wow, I didn't see that coming."

Can't believe the cylinder-to-cylinder distribution is very good.

I know there is a little to much Aluminum on this engine for this Forum but this is a Customer's engine. I fabbed up the valve covers to clear the custom rocker shaft/rockers and modified pedestals. It is a stroked/bored poly and has very high numbers. It was a long time in the making and the engine is looking for a new shell to go in to.
