    I'm bummed because you're in Delaware and I'm here on the left coast, which means I likely will never get to see this masterpiece in person.

    its waxed linen cord , and it called wire lacing , it was done a lot back in the old days to keep wires nice and neat .there are different sites out there that show the methods on how its accomplished , hopefully this helps
