I think you have it right as is, the four forums make it easy to go to the area of your main interest. Leave the forum as you have it now and don't try to over think it, give it a chance to work. There's a lot of people on the HAMB that really don't quit fit the traditional mold, there here and they shouldn't be treaded like a poor step brothers or sisters.
You can have your main focus on traditional hot rods, customs and keep the other categories. Lots of the near close traditional guys (traditional styled) came to this very traditional forum to find a home with near like mind car guys.
I wonder how big this forum world be if all the near traditional guys were not here to support this forum. In the words of a semi famous philosopher "Why can't we all get along".

honestly, i click the "new posts" tab and haven't noticed a difference other than the REALLY off topic stuff getting closed.

That's an intuitive and simplified solution to something that was more complex before. That's never a bad thing.

I was happy with things before the change, but figured out how to use the new and improved version. Just like a new used car, it gets you to work and home again, I'll figure out how the accessories work when I need them. Bob

i miss the old format.

1 reason being, i could just search my name, and it would bring up any thread that i was mentioned or quoted in, now theres no way, that i know of , to do so.
i often find myself more frustrated, then before surfing all the separate forums.

Great idea. Just make sure (please) that anything "stickied" in either of the smaller forums forums is added with the stickies in the HAMB forum.

 

I usually go straight to new posts anyway. But this sounds good. Go for it.

I think it's a good idea. The layout is maybe a bit over complicated at the moment. To be honest, I usually just click on the HAMB board so I can see everything at once. I haven't really gotten into the idea of splitting everything up but I can see how people would like that.

I use the advanced search,,make sure you have your username as Find post by user and not Find threads started by users. HRP

I'm going to have to voice a minority opinion, apparently. I never really understood the "happenings and discussions" breakout. Seemed like that could have been left under the "classic HAMB" section. Wouldn't miss it if it went away. HOWEVER, I would miss the "traditionally styled" section. It seems like the cars that fit that category deserve a section, apart from the general discussion and question posts. It's kind of nice to have the sections devoted strictly to the cars kept seperate from the more general content.

But, it's your call. Either way, I'll still be here tomorrow.

Me too, I tried the forum's at first but fell back on just scrolling through the main board lately, seems easier Idk...

 

yepp I think it makes sense to make it HAMB, trad rods, trad customs. makes it easier to classify stuff
