Subscribed! My Studebaker Wagonaire has much the same kind of rust in the floor. The rear seat area is a big problem because there are no patch panels for that area. I like what you've done and will try to do the same!

Yesterday I fixed up blower motor wires which were pretty bad shape and also cheked brushes. Put it back together and removed rust from the covers. Today sprayed some primer to all metal parts that were sand blasted. Now all the heater parts are ready for some paint.

Blaah, heater is still in pieces and I have been thinking...

Body still have few rust issues so I decided that I'm going to fix all of them and strip the whole body to bare metal. So this wagon is going parts for unknown time but it will come back kooler than ever...

9 days trip to Netherlands and over 4700 miles does good for my motivation.

First task is tackle with tailgate... Inner part of the tailgate is cracked and rusted so you can't put any extra weight on it or it might get broken even more. I think that inner part will be really tricky to fix but I'll figure it out how to do it. There is also rust spots outside...

Ok, tailgate is out of the car and also rear side glasses.

I parted the tailgate and it's bad enough to think a buy better one. Well, easier to say than done because I think it would be pretty hard to find one, so maybe I have to fix old one. I'll try to hunt one down but if I don't find it I have to take the skin out of the tailgate to fix it good.

    Few pics...

I took the instrument cluster out of the car because odometer didn't work and speedometer needle got stuck when the speed got up to 50.

Found out that one of the odometer gears was loose and one washer was bottom of the speedo. Facia plate is also loose and this might cause non working speedo.

If someone could help me and tell me how this gear should stay there?? Now it comes out so much that washer drops and odo stops working. Check the photos...

One end of the shaft that holds the tumblers and big gear together should have a "spring steel" clip that holds everything in place.

Great wagon and enjoyed reading your tour progress. I didn't even bother looking for a 2 door when I found our 4dr. I knew how rare the 2dr is and the 4dr was exceptional.

I hope the pic is loaded correcting.

Thanks! At this moment progress is really slow because I have promised my wife that her trailer will get new paint at this winter. There will be an update everytime when there is some progress...

Better tailgate has arrived last week but before I'll get it I have to pay some taxes.

    That's tragic!
I realise this is a long way from your home, but our local (Australian) falcons may be of same size?

Might be same size but the inner part looks totally different. I don't want to spend any more cash for tailgates. Now I have two shitty tailgates but I just have to build one good tailgate out of two bads. I made a good plan while sleeping...:D

So I did skin those tailgates and now I have Comet tailgate build kit. Let's see what I decide to do but first there's some rust removal.

Also I have started to remove the paint from body. It's coming out pretty easily when using hot air blower and scraper. That's slow way to work but I don't want to cover everything with dust.

Yesterday I started to part out the front. Bumper, grill and right fender is now out of the car. When I pulled the right fender out of the car I found few autographs from inner fender wall! Builders left their bookmark in my car... How common this was back then?
