OT: Does anyone like the slang "repop?" Because it makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. In my circle, "repo" was good enough.

BTW: I've owned 14 Studebakers and still have my 63 Super Lark w/B57 R4 converted to R3 engine.

 

Not sure how "repop" might have come about when referring to aftermarket replica parts. But "repo" in my circles has an entirely different meaning, that being an abbreviation for "repossess." As in his hot rod was repo'd by the bank 'cause he didn't make his payments.

That Super Lark is a real treasure, any pictures?

Here is a couple of pics of my build. 50 sedan with Model A front axle, 56 Olds 324 with muncie 4 speed and a 8 3/4 rear axle with 4.56 sure grip.

 

Sold this real deal vintage drag car (actually right here on the H.A.M.B) to a guy in Northern Illinois. He said he is putting back as an old school drag car. I hope to see it again and running. One of those I wish I hadn't sold that moments....

 

Actually I should have said "re-p'o" for "re'-pi-duk'-shun," which is what a lot of people say (especially me) when they are not watching their enunciation.

What is interesting about my car was that while it was on that ubiquitous auction site we all love to hate, if you did a Google Image search on "1963 Studebaker Super Lark" all my auction pictures came up. Now that the auction is over, those pictures do not come up on Google.

Although I would have sold it, the auction turned into a "testing of the waters" to get an idea of what people would pay for it. The car plus parts did $30k which was close but no cigar.

What really irritates me is that people will spend over $50k have a specialty shop restore a Studebaker of no intrinsic value (like not a R-Series, Jet Thrust series, Avanti, Hawk, '53, etc.) but when it comes to spend money on the intrinsic value of a particular Studebaker - they don't think they're worth much. People see value in the Restoration, not the Studebaker.

BTW, my avatar are the molds I made of the B57 cylinder heads which as you know are quite rare and ultra high performance. The intake port actually has some LS1 characteristics (!) And you can see a lot of the back side of the intake when you look down the port. Also, the bone stock Studebaker head has some intake port features that are current technology. And they are in the valve pocket where it is most advantageous.

 

Looks killer and I kind of miss her.

 

There were 2 37 coupes at the Outkasts car show in Mitchell, SD a couple weeks ago. Both ended up as Top Five place winners.
White (mine) is a President and Black is a Dictator from Minnesota.

Been lurking on this site for a while and came across this thread. I am a bit late to the party but here are mine sitting in all of their glory in my "toy barn".

The white 63-R1 automatic was my mom's but mine now as is the black 63-R2 4-speed in the middle. The red 63-R2 is a project that will be my son's when we are done. The black 84 is my dad's.

I am also always looking for a 49-53 2R5/2R6 pickup to add to the mix to replace one I should've never sold (a tale as old as time)...
