  4. My dad doesn't post a whole lot anymore so I'm going to steal his thunder and add pics of his latest 55... I know this is atleast his 4th 55 Chevy over the years, but his first "gasser".

Just signed up. Got a 55 2dr post. buddy and I thrashed on it for 2 weeks to get it ready for ONDR racer at Grand Bend. Pulled it out of the barn, found a buick nail head and installed it. Radiused the rear wheel wells, made custom fender-well headers (cut and welded side pipe headers from a vette). Gutted the interior and installed 2 racing buckets, drive shaft hoop, 355 posi rear, track bars. Made one disappointing pass only to have the bottom end fail. Fortunetly it's just bearings. going to re-grind crank but would like to know of any other mods that would give more punch. It's a 401 nail head from a 65 Wild-Cat. Will post pics as soon as I figure out how to.

What kind of wheels are those?

  19. I had a 55 Bel Air hard top in high school, mid 80's. I would give up both my current cars to get it back. I loved that car. I lost all the paperwork on it so I can't trace the vin. I have looked long and hard, last seen in the Boston area. Gone but not forgotten......

I will post pictures tonight from my home computer.

    Here we go....

First up me heading off to the senior prom, 1987.

Here is a shot of it a few years after we sold it. We met up with the current owner to see what he had done.

And this wagon I had just a couple years ago. Another one that got away. This was my wifes. Hated to sell it, and get reminded frequently. I know where it is. And have claimed first dibs if he ever decides to sell.

    I miss them both.

sorry ,i havent seen that hardtop around this area--ill keep my eyes peeled---what was the writing on the decklid?

  23. Hot rod 47... Both are nice but that wagon is perfect!

  24. Thanks for looking. It said "sweet cherry wine" on the lid. The car was black cherry in color.

Thanks. Loved the wagon, I just got caught in a time where something had to go. It was the easiest to sell. I sure do miss it though.

  25. Trav, don't really have any good current pics of my car. Hold tight though, my brother has really been on my ass ever since the PID/Keystone event. Things might get rollin this winter!

I know it's easy for me to say, and I don't know your situation, but I'm pretty confident in saying if I owned that wagon, I would NEEEEEVER sell it!!! Holy crap that's beautiful! Sorry..:(

This is the only picture I have of my first 55 Chevy. It was taken at an 1/8th mile strip in 1965. I have owned a couple more over the years and would still like to get another. My journey with the first one was cut short by Uncle Sam.

  29. No issues. I wish I wasn't in that place at the time. But something had to go, and of the three cars I had at the time this one was able to sell the fastest. I had been trying to sell my 47 Ford for a year up to that point, but it was a much higher price and just wasn't selling. And the third car was in a million pieces and had no real value at that point.

You do what you have to do. I know where it is and just saw it last weekend. Still looks great. I have first dibs should he decide to sell it.
