Dang that is one strong woman. And svelte too, not the Czech weightlifter type you usually see lifting a car.

Looks like it was on its way down as this shot was taken. The prop is still spinning.

    Hey SouthUrn,

This looks like Belgium before the blitz... do you have any history of the photo.
    Thanks

One source lists it as Zeppelin over Budapest, Hungary, 1931. It's on the internet, so it must be right, right?

It's a Ames Tribune image and a Story county plate on the car (Ames is in Story county) so I am going to guess it is from the Ames area not Cedar Rapids

  17. Wow!! Just got back from my annual Dallas to Seattle and back to Dallas road trip.
Took me all night just to get caught up on this thread alone.
Ya'all can piss and moan all you want to. This thread alone is worth my alliance membership. Don't change it, don't screw with it, don't try to make it better.
No one is making you look at it.
You f-up this thread, and you loose me, and I'll bet a lot of others too.

  18. This photo is at Kachness, they've got a massive road widening project that's been going on for quite some time - this highway moves quite a lot of traffic now.

True story: The Frisbee came about from kids tossing around tins from Frisbie's Pies.

And during the war, BCHS students did their part and built a training glider (this was a ground trainer, thus the "Penguin" name):

Finally, BCHS did have an alumna from the class of 1942 who became pretty well-known:

She did go on to Bowling Green, but somehow that teaching gig didn't pan out. Wonder when was the last time someone called her "Bubbles"?
    :D

Was that a standard procedure? Looks like there would be too much run out. Obviously it didn't work in this case. Somebody screwed up big time, that's for sure. Surely we have some V-1 vets on here that could explain.

Glad the teaching didn't work out, having watched her in On the Waterfront and North by Northwest!
