I hear about people finding cars and always thought it wouldn't happen to me but finally it did. I stumbled upon this 1931 Ford model A parked in a garage for several years after the owner passed away. His widow kept it registered and insured. I saw an old car on the side of her house and asked about it. After looking I explained it wasn't what I was looking for she said she had another one parked in the garage. When she opened the door I was screaming on the inside but all calm, poker faced on the outside.

It will only allow me 1 pic at a time. Here is the inside, dirty but not to bad considering how long it's been sitting. Has all door glass and the only rust I could find was on the lower portion of the rear fender.

  11. I agree with Don.....We are running out of good originals! Plenty of forgotten projects out there to transform...."Its only Original once"

Wow what a nice original. My choice would be to drive it or sell it and buy what I want. Some cars are just over the edge and need saved.
    Great find!

  14. Nice find. I would leave it as a highboy. Maybe a different trans, beef up the banger, and some new paint. That's what I'm doing with mine.

  15. Come on guys,,yeah it's a nice car but we all know it's cheaper in the long run to start with the best car you can find.

Now,I would agree with you if the OP intends to build a RR style,,stretched, chopped, fenderless but to build a traditional Model A,,heck yes!.

    Gotta remember,Ford built 4,849,340 Model A's. HRP

Man that is a clean find. I love a hotrod as much as the next guy. But I think a simple wheels, tires, & stance treatment would do that car justice without compromising the integrity of such a clean old car. Whatcha gonna do?

It's so nice and original, I think I'm just going to drive it as it is.

GAAAAAAAWWWWWWW....I had a situation like that when I was in highschool mowing an old lady's yard for spring break money, exept it was a 64.5 fastback mustang with 4k on the clock. She wanted 3grand for it but I was a broke ass, and no one would lend me the money. Still waiting for my turn to come back around, but this time a 29-40 Ford Coupe....one of these days....

Awesome find, congrats! Now chop it up and hot rod the shit out of it.

This IS a hot rod site, isn't it? Or did it change to fuddy duddy dot com overnight? :)

How much did you pay for it? Was it running, drivable?

  24. HRP...Good points, but that's why I said to look for a forgotten project (Hot Rod)that may be a good car in and of itself...sparing a nice original.. Again I agree, we all want a good body to start with...that is certainly true.

Yes it's a driver and I paid 6k for it. I have no idea what they are worth but I didn't have a problem with the price

Good work, you stole it as far as I'm concerned. $6k typically doesn't buy you a '31 coupe worth a damn.

6K would be a helluva good deal for that car in these parts!
