Very nicely done man! That job on the top is very impressive. By the way, who is your chrome company? That's a lot of stuff to have chromed in this day and age.

    Dave.

  7. the Merc rests in a storage building with 40 other project cars, all owned by one guy. Merc needs complete resto, roof is caved in, most of interior still there, Cad has been replaced with a 348/3 speed Chev, custom front sheet metal gone. The owner got the Merc in 1979 and since 2007, he has told me, "I'm going to work on the Merc" and at that time, he was 81 years old. I call every few months and he keeps saying, "I'm going to work on it".
I appreciate everybody's interest but, back to the actual thread and to JJ, who is actually working on his Merc.

Great Merc! You should get a verbal confirmation from the owner to give you first shot at the car if/when he decides to sell. At 87 years of age, you should insist that he let you leave your contact info on the front seat with a note to call you (past owner, will pay market rate). He could pass away, and that car could be sold or auctioned off between your "call every few months" as sometimes estates get liquidated quickly. Might be a chance that you'd get a pre-sale courtesy call when that eventual day comes.

  9. Good suggestions, thanks. I did all that in 2007 and other things to keep me in the loop and first contact.

Thanks Damon. It's been a minute since you've been to the shop! Glad to hear your busy!

Thanks man. I was very torn on which direction to go with the taillights. I couldn't be happier with the results.

SURPRISE!!!! I fianlly just got caught up on reading all of this. It makes me smile every time I walk into the shop and see this Merc. It is seriously going to blow peoples minds when it is debuted. Unreal craftsmanship in the build all the way through. There has not been one corner cut at all. Like I said in a previous post on this thread, this Merc WILL be what other Mercs are judged by. Amazing work by an amazing craftsman and I am proud to call him a great friend and club brother. Cheers

    Hahahahaha funny funny!

Well after the revival I am more motivated than ever to wrap this merc up!
So many beautiful cars and a great gathering of custom cars.

I definitely appreciate all the praise and appreciation for the work I've put into this car, but I Have a very long way to go. I'll be happy if this car is half as nice as you guys are making it out to be.

I'll do a full update soon

Jerm - It was great to see the car in person at the Iron Lords Open House last night. The taillight treatment is outstanding in its simplicity and execution.

I know you think that you don't have anything new to post on this build but dammit, it belongs on page one so newcomer custom fans can see what you are accomplishing. Hate to see it at the bottom of page 5.

Keep digging on it and I'll keep diggin' it.

    Thanks guys!
I'm working on the little stuff now so there hasn't really been any good updates. I'll be molding the front end on in the next few weeks so expect a few good updates.
