Re: The Gellings Ford in post #3 - why can't anyone else put such a great looking grille in a custom? Perfect.

These New England cars shown with the typed captions came from some late 50s to early 60s Hartford Autorama programs.

I also have 2 (stamped) Appleton 552s made into dummies that I was going to put on my Mercury but have decided to wait for some Appleton 112s at a reasonable price.

Quite a nice motorcycle tow system and he's running those now famous Lyon wheelcovers too.

I built and drove this full custom Henry J,from 1959 to 1964,it was stolden in Miami Florida late 64 by some asswipe and gutted and trashed up in Sanroa Ga. I found out later, not wroth going up to get back,if it was the J,by a buddy who had moved up there a year before . It was in Car Craft in jan 63. Like most customs,I was always doing something to it,one late update was adding in early 1960, a Corvair front bumper. Other parts were; windsheild was a rear window from a 1953 Studebaker hardtop coupe,53 tunnel gages Desoto dash board,58 Ford grill, part of 60 Chevy hood skin from a new car wreck as trunk panel and rolled rear pan, wheelwells were homemade stainless steel, and folding top from a 55 T-Bird,6 of the 56 Buick fender EX ports backword on hood as intake ports in a "V",bull nosed, franched head lights that were tunneled with screen stonegrates, power by Rocket 98 Olds V8.
I'm now 71 and ancient east cost custom, didn't seem old at the time.:D still think of it as a new design

Pretty cool, Dana. You got a young start cutting that one up. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to look it up in my collection of CC. Lot of good customs in Car Craft back then.

Sorry only the one posted. Bob was quite the motorcycle guy over the years, a Blue Knight, & passed away several years ago.

Robert “Shorty Bob” Kachanian

ATKINSON, NH: Robert “Shorty Bob” Kachanian, 86, one of six children, died suddenly at his home in Northwood, NH.

Born in Boxford, MA December 21, 1922, he was the son of the late Sarkis and Catherine (Anokian) Kachanian.

Bob had lived in Atkinson for 60 years, and attended Atkinson Academy. Many will remember him as the owner of Bob’s Garage and always willing to help a neighbor in need. He had many interests and one of his greatest passions was traveling the country’s highways. Bob entertained family and friends with his many stories, and was a Grange member while living in New Hampshire. He was an avid motorcyclist and active member of the NH Blue Knights Chpt. #1.

A lifelong bachelor

Most likely the 1st Lead East and Sledscene East at VA beach are not ancient but 30 years seems like a LONG time ago to me.
