Features Doing Falcons Right

Trying to make some headway on the radiator. I think this should work...
So many small variables to consider if you do not want anything rubbing holes through the tubes on the core or rattling while running. I am also careful knowing that I could come up with a better way to do it after I'm halfway through this attempt.

 

DOH!!! Down to the emergency bandaids.

Hello Kitty is soooooo stylish...

 

Man, worked all day on this darn radiator and still don't have much to show for it. The fans are so close to the pulleys that it's tricky to make this thing serviceable, and not go all tube chassis on the front. It felt like one step forward, two steps back all day. But here's what I got :
I think I would like to mount the lower channel with rubber cones so that the radiator can tilt backwards to release the upper Channel from the body.
The lower channel is larger than the upper Channel so the shroud fits on the inside on the bottom and on the outside on top. That hopefully will allow me to slide the fans and shroud out the top in case I have to change a belt, and allow me enough room to tilt the radiator back to release the upper channel for removal. There's a million ways to do it, I'm kind of stuck as to which is best. The fruits of the day...

Are you using five-lug wheels and bottlecap hubcaps?

Have not decided which route i am going with on wheels, still debating the options. This photo was still the factory 4 lug

Great '62 (my favorite roundbody). Do you have the original trim? Those washboards are killer.

 

62s rock. Deluxe trim package and the best tail lights ever! What brand front tnd kit is on that?

 

Hell yes. They're so great somebody even grafted them into my '61 Futura!

I couldn't believe it when somebody suggested swapping them for '63s.

I do have the original trim pieces in the trunk of the car. Not in the best shape but may be able to savage them.

your car is close to a 1960 australian falcon.i just cut the roof off one today to graft on to a better body.collecting parts to build an americian falcon TWO door.the back pillar on that 62 is so george fucking jetson i love it

 

My trim is also imperfect. Rather than worry about repairing and replacing it, I'm going to have the paint match the trim instead (I.e. flat or semigloss).

 

Question for Evil , What size are the wheels on yours? I'm looking at a set of 15x7s for the '60 . I realize yours are bigger but not sure how much bigger !

Here is a black plate 63 Sprint I just got in from California. I think it is going to make a nice car. I really like the factory clock

Thanks Evil , based on how smart yours look I went and bought these today , They're 15x7 with just over 4" back space so if my measurements are correct they'll fit in the rear nice and tidy .
We have a set of early 5 spokes in 14x7 that I had planned to use but the back space on them is only 3 1/8" so they're too tight in the rear fenders .

those should look great ! only reason went 16" with this brand the 15's had more of a curved spoke not straight up and down. let me see some pictures asap when you mount them @! best of luck

 

Does anyone know what size bearing OD the lower steering shaft needs on a 62? I know the inner is 3/4" for the DD shaft. What can i use instead of ordering a custom made piece. Any help would be appreciated
