    That's not a custom.
    That's maybe a "Show rod"

  2. Kustom777 and all those who rode the original horse into town.....The HAMB is certainly rife with opinions. I guess that's what makes it decidedly American and free. About a year ago, I remember having my ass handed to me when I suggested that Cheaterama '13 (Milwaukee) consider moving to a larger location. Guess what...they moved. I've come along side several HAMB Members who had there asses handed to them as well over differing opinions. I personally love the Barris Version of the Jack Chrisman Coupe over the original. Oftentimes, it makes me just "wrong" in the eyes of many younger HAMB Members who were little more than "unborn" when this stuff actually happened. Countless are the references to "Gold Chainers" on the Forum. Arrogance is not determined by ones opinion...it is that which is expressed by denying that opinions all have merit, though we may disagree with one anothers style or taste. Only small minds cannot tolerate differences. I have given up trying to convince anyone of anything. Especially here......Centurion9

Agreed Centurion9...and Kustom 777 and ChopOlds...it's like the old 'restored VS rodded' arguments of the '70's, none of it ever got solved or satisfied and I doubt this argument will ever get solved or satisfied.

There's not much we can say to HAMBer's that have never experienced those glorious 'kustom' days of the late '50's early '60's cuz they weren't even thought of yet.

I can only imagine hearing the "rodders" of 2057 taking the older "HAMB" members to task about why their 2000, and later Hondas and Toyotas being "not very traditional" and being "just plain ugly." What goes around, comes around...more than once...!!!

I dig kustoms, always have. Build what you like and tough shit if those guys that call the car ugly don't like it. It bugs me to see these idiots cut down a kustom. Ask them what they built then smile and shake your head. Like Rog 40 stude dude said there not your belly button cars. I Low lid dude noticed Here in Denver area there aren't very many kustoms, seems to be a street rod or muscle car town so I have to hang out with them there street rod guys.LOL.

This looks like something that was started and never finished. There is potential if you ask me.

Wrong again, Mr Wizard. Just a 40 purist. I admit the Badador involves some great metal/paint/work but, to me, some uninspired design.

There are recently built customs on here uglier than the Grecian, but I don't like to hurt peoples feelings.

Yep, the uglier the car the better your date looks. :)

  26. ugly is in the eye of the beholder.....or at least roll it out of the garage and have someone give you an unbiased opinion on it before you paint it......

  27. Well said.

    Well... Kinda.

He is right that there is no accounting for taste, and that people will have different opinions about that.

Some people prefer the Disco version of a Rolling Stones song ( and apparently, there really is such a thing )

But usually when somebody here tries to pull rank based on age, that is done by somebody who actually helped to replace the types of cars and style of build that this Site is about with a buildstyle that came later, and that this Site does not cater to.

So maybe in some cases, the little bit of extra distance in years makes for a better perspective. ( and if not better, at least as valid )

Like the Chrisman Coupe he mentioned.
A slightly younger guy might wonder how anybody could do that damage to that particular car, while a guy who lived in the era that those cars were destroyed, upgraded, or "improved" might just see it as just another old Hot Rod.

Personally, I am grateful that the damage was undone...

Honestly can't imagine what the owner was thinking here.[/QUOTE]

Looks like something "The Cat in the Hat" would drive in a Dr Seuse book.

The point to remember here is these car's were the owners idea of the perfect custom. Ugly or not they were created by hand and lacquered and loved.

I build radical custom's. Never lost one of my rides in a car park or at a run yet.
