Do any of you remember the Bonanza built around 1969/70 that had the 100CC Hodaka motor on it? Had a 5 speed gear box as I remember and one fast little package! I owned some sort of Mini Bike back then. Got it from a kid down the street. I think it had a 2 horse Briggs on it. I saved my lawn mowing money and went to Sears and ordered a new 3 1/2 HP ( I think) Biggest one I could buy and still fit in on the frame. Was a big improvement . Enjoying this thread.

  2. During my mini-bike/scooter days, (1950 to 1955) this was the ULTIMATE dream!!

    The 'Mustang'!!!

The Cushman 'Eagle' was a close second.

The mustang was considered by some at the time to be a 'motorcycle'. I'm not sure, because I never owned one or even rode one, but I think they would run close to 60 MPH!!

I sort of skimmed 10 or so of the 79 pages, so if I've missed vital info, I'm sure someone will chew me a new one..... but anyway..... when I was a kid, my dad bought me a Fox Doodlebug. It was very basic with a 3hp Tecumseh. Does anyone have something similar? Crazy thing is, I think my old mini is still sitting on my sister's farm where her brothers in law wrecked the clutch 35 years ago. I should really get it back and do a resto........ but ..... don't I have enough projects?:confused::confused:

  5. I finally got my Lil Bastard done! Here is a pic of it in the '47 Chevy. I had the pipes cermaic coated and built new side covers for the torque converter and the disc/drive sprocket.

    Looks nice Good job!!

  7. Thanks, B&S 18HP, 35 CID, 566cc, runs about 55mph. The bike started as a 1968 Rupp Fat Cat

  8. The engine stripped down for cleaning

After I cut the backbone out and stretched the frame 4", mocked things up and drank a few beers pondering and then I started going back together.......

Be even more amazed that I talked to him and DIDN'T end up in hand cuffs!!! Be mystified at the sight of a new Harbor Freight 6.5 clone being started with the throttle hooked up back wards! All these thrills and more at the Second annual Az Mini Bike Roundup!!! MONDAY, LABOR DAY SEPTEMBER 2 at 10:00am...

I dig this one, some nice work there!

let me guess, the mystery part is a nitrous system disguised to look like vice grips, right?...huh?..did I get it?:D

Took mine around the block to a party last night! Got caught by Johnny Law on the way home! He threatened to have it towed, and give me tickets for multiple violations! Then gave me my license back telling me if anyone rides it on the street again,he would throw the book at me!! (what a Barney!) ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1376842400.184952.jpg

I've heard that from a lot of minibike riders. Voodoo Larry's girlfriend got slapped with $600 in fines, but Larry was able to talk him down to a warning. All the more reason to bring those things out to a real track and race 'em! Just like in the early days of hot rodding when kids would get in trouble for racing on the street. Take it to the track! White Knuckle Scramble - 9/14/13 :)

    Last May, we shot this...
    The SALTON SEA SHAKEDOWN
    ------------------------------------
Lots of fun and stupidity that day with good friends and mild heat stroke, including our very own Chip "NeedLouvers" who stepped up as Key Grip!

The one on the right is a Sears, I think.

The 2 blue ones are just back from the powder coaters. The one in the middle was a recent purchase at the Springfield Swap, on the way to the Drags ($15.00!!!).
