Broadway and 8th, Los Angeles. Guessing from the cars and wartime decorations, I would say '42-44 vintage.

    A few more from flickr:

Mr Johnson managing director of Bristol Motor Company Limited with his Beeston motor tricycle the first in Bristol. - Introduced in 1896 the Beeston tricycle was manufactured by Beeston cycle works in Nottingham (UK). Powered by a 400cc engine the Beeston tricycle was the only motorcycle / tricycle to make it from London to Brighton in the 1896 Emancipation Day Run to celebrate the raising of the speed limit to 12mph.

Two women and three men with a Chrysler, probably a 1927 Chrysler "60" Sedan. The car is equipped with an early indicator system, the "Contax Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger" manufactured by Zeiss Ikon. Pre-war German licence plates of the Prussian province of Silesia (IK = Provinzen Ober- und Niederschlesien).

This postcard shows two Hangyoku (Young Geisha) sitting in an early Automobile. The car is a Colibri (Hummingbird) manufactured by the Norddeutsche Automobil-Werke (North German Auto Works) between 1908 and 1912.

    Early Hot Rodder:

Aeroplane motor sits on a 1915 Stutz chassis. This was my future grandfather's summer project in 1921. He did get the motor to run and it was drivable, but looks were another thing. He was very mechanically inclined. Throughout his life he worked in many fields as a mechanic, in towing, bridge & tunnel construction. Unfortunately he never talked about his early life with his grandkids.. Why? I don't know

My grandfather's 1915 Stutz Bearcat that he installed a 4 cylinder OHC Hall- Scott 100HP Aeroplane motor in, and got it to run. Not sure who the man is in the car.

The car and motor were purchased from a junkyard in 1921. Chicago, IL.

Dad's 55 Buick Century. It wasn't driven on many paved streets in 1958. The bottom of the car is white under the chrome sweepspear and dark blue above with a white top.

My grandfather and his friends driving down to Indianapolis for the big race in 1921. I din't know who the men are. I think grandfather took the picture asw I don't recognize him in the picture. He didn't become my grandfather until 1962.

Somewhere in Indiana at a Texaco Filling Station. Judging by the thin spoke wheels this is not my grandfathers 1922 Oldsmobile pictured elsewhere in this set. Enroute to Indy Races.

Replaced in 1969 with a 1965 Impala. This was my Grandfathers car. Photographed in Chicago. It may have gotten smashed on a construction site.

Mobilgas Station 1947 ~ 1947 Hudson Super Six. Relatives heading east to Maine.

My grandfather worked here in the early 1920's . Check out the chain drive rear wheels on the tow truck. Its hard to tell what they are doing to the car on the hook.
I'm not sure but it looks kind of like my gradfather by the rear wheel of the tow truck, but I don't think it was. My grandfather was very skinny in his 20's.
They did a lot of police tows and towed in many gangsters cars. They also amassed a pretty good collection of guns they found in the hidden compartments in the cars. Places like a drop down armrest. A lift up panel in the floor, etc.....

Excelsior Auto Cycle ~ June 1921. Chicago, IL. 1918-19 cycle. My future Grandfather (left, but not till 1962) ) & his dad. Taken in Chicago, Illinois.

A woman walks by a 1954 Buick Special parked in front of the Le Hotel Bristol at 112 rue du Faubourg St. Honor'e in Paris, France. 1962. Scanned from a vintage Kodak Kodachrome Slide purchased at an estate sale...

Soldiers in Germany. Scanned from a B/W negative. 1949-50

Many of the above (starting with the stutz) from flickr user Roberto41144's collection.

  29. I assume the Automobile Association had something to do with the hood ornament on the car? Just love this thread!
