Anyone ever used this for anything? I was kicking around what to put on a fuel tank for my car, it is used and had some rust so was not gonna be perfect. Well, I decided to try this. I cleaned and wire brushed the tank, treated the rusty areas with Plastikote Rust Converter, scotch brighted it all and brushed on the "black" hammer finish. I really like the looks, any opinions?
Looks good. I have painted a tackle box for my Daughter with it. A mail box stand I built for my FIL.
Used it on the legs of my welding table, pre-cleaned it and brushed it on and has held up really well Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I think it may be a good option for things that are not or will not be smooth. I may do the drive shaft with it also.
I used Sherwin Williams sprayed out the gun on my Pontiac housing and entire frame.....I have always loved the hammertone look....Littleman Uploaded with ImageShack.us
did a spot on the garage floor ( not on purpose) been there for several years and is holding up well ( evenafter we tried to remove it .. some tough stuff . oh the tool box we painted with the rest of the can turned out great also . kind of weird seeing a big roller cabinet painted with it
I used it on my calipers...too soon to tell, but have used it alot on other stuff. will be using it on pedals, brackets etc in the future
How do you use plastikote can I use it for the underside of my fenders, I wanna preserve my all steel body Our only recourse on this road to hell is we're driving a firetruck!
Painted the gastank on my 59 Sedan Delivery about three years ago in the bronze color ... still looks bitchen.
I have used it on several cars... and used several of the colors. It is a tough as nails finish too !!!
It is great stuff, I've used it on lots of stuff and it holds up well. It doesn't require primer, so I paint it directly on freshly sandblasted surfaces.
I paint practically all my engines with it in one color or the other. Looks good, stays on really well.
The Plastikote Rust Converter is meant to put over rust to chemically stop rust. Goes on white, turns to a black finish on rust. On bare steel or paint, it is clear. I put it on with a brush. I did the inside of my fenders of a OT car with it and top coated with Duplicolor rattle can bedliner, still looks pefect today after 2+ years http://www.plastikote.com/products/Specialty/Rust-Converter.html
Yeah I've used it where the semi-industrial looks the part. Good on chassis components etc if a high gloss finish looks too OTT. Seems to be real tuff and resists stone chipping etc.
I used gold on the dash insert and arm rests on my 60 OLDS as a contrast in the black interior. Looked great. Also did my valve covers and intake. Held up well. I swear there used to be red and green. Always thought red would look good on a dash. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Just looked on the website. They still make red and green. White too. Probably have to order it. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I use it on lots of stuff. I like the way the silver mimics a galvanized coating although it's a little too shiny. heres a pix of my gas tank I did a few hears ago and its holding up great.
Yep, if you look up "wicked" in the dictionary that is the picture that will pop up. Bad ass little truck for sure. Don
Beer is part of an ongoing joke between me and a good buddy that lives a ways away. When I take a pic of the progress I make on my car I try to have a beer in the pic. You see he still has a real job and not retired like me.
