Bear with me AA/Fuel Altered Questions

It would, but less so. I think of the perch front spring mount as the center of a triangle, with the rear wheels as the other two points, when the car torques over, the two rear points of the triangle pivot more at a single center point than the would if running coils/shocks at each end of the front crossmember, because then the triangle becomes a square (sort of), and the twist is partly dampened. (of course I failed high school geometry, along with most other things, home work was working on my roadster, so I am dangerous with any form of math!!)

 

anyone have any info on what the pinion angle should set at, what about the engine angle in relationship to the rear pinion?I've a few of the earlier altered had the engine high in the chassis and at quite a bit of an angle.

 

Engine was mounted high for weight transfer but was limited to 24" crankshaft centerline to ground. Angle pointed it to rear end.

If one was to take a close look at the "Wing" , there is a cross spring , there are also wishbones and friction shocks but what is this? The shock arms are welded solid. The weight can and the HD front spring are ballast to try to control the wheel stands. Ask Big Mike about making a pass with all 4 on the ground .

were there rules that prohibited the use of recap slicks in the fuel class' 63-65 era?

 

Recaps were the only thing available untill M&H came out with a dedicated racing slick. In the day "BRUCE" recaps were quite popular.

M&H's became popular after the '59 Smoker's meet, so even the early fuel altereds ran them, when I started in '62 there were no recaps left, if you ran them you had no chance against an M&H-equipped car...and no one wanted to have them come apart in the lights...
