Is anyone running Edelbrock 1405 carburetors on a dual quad set-up on a 4-71 for small block Chevrolet?

No, but I'm sure it's been done, even if it's wrong. We've seen photos of 4-4bbls on blowers. For some too much is not enough.

IIRC, the inlet of the 4-71 is so small, 2x4 would not dump straight in and would require a tall carb mount plate longer than the blower case. That's probably why I can't remember ever seeing an aftermarket 2x4 setup.

Decide if you want max power or outrageous appearance. If just max power with driveability, then a single would be the way to go.

Well I know it's been done. Weiand made a 4-71 adapter for 2x4 barrel carbs. Just seems like an awful lot of carb .It's what i have on my 4-71.

  5. I had two (i thunk 650s) on a 283 and it ran awesome. Got 20 mpg on highway. Carl5coupe has the engine and blower set up now. I ran them progressive and linked one to one for max power. Awesome.

Not sure if this will apply to you with the smaller 4-71 but you should research "boost referencing -carburetor" (which will apply to a carb with power valves) if performance is your goal ; but being that you are thinking of running the edelbrocks I'm guessing that on a low boost, street driven car this will not apply?

  7. My AFBs are also not boost referenced but set up for proper enrichment in the secondaries. Not a bad idea in theory but not absolutely necessary either. Lots of opinions out there. I've got plenty of miles and great performance without boost referencing.

Yeap they make/made them, I picked up one a while ago. I still have to find carbs for it though. What type of carbs are you running?

Great advice if running a Holley carb with vac operated power valves. But the AFB / Edelbrock use metering rods for the transition enrichment, so there is no need to reference any vac signal.

  12. I ran these two stock 425 AFB's for 5 years on the street. They were just as they had come off a '56 Corvette, on a Weiand adapter, and they ran great. The engine was 292 ci, 8:1 with a 315 Duntov cam. As good as it got in '63.

I remeber seeing a fellah from Montana that had two Edelbrock carbs on a 471 on a SBC, in an Anglia.

Saw him at the GG Spokane event a few years ago (one of the places we go after Speed Week) he had driven the car there from Montana (or so he claimed, looked like a reasonable calim at the time).

His linkage was set up direct (1:1) I don't recall what size carbs. :(

I picked me up a complete 471 setup for a SBC setup , one had dual AFB's on it, anybody know a vintage looking scoop that would go with this setup . Going 60,s style with my willy gasser project. The carb adapter setup is also weiand
