I am trying to decide what tires to run on my model-a I know what size already and they will be black wall and had figured on the bias ply but I keep seeing these tires that some of ya'll are running and they look like a radial but still have the look I'm after and I guess they ride and drive good I am also running fenders if that matters any info or pictures would be great.
They're 235/85/16 Light Truck tires. I found mine new on CL for $80. I run them without tube on 1935 wires. They grab the road alot better and they're taller
Depends on how much are going to drive the car and/Or how you want it to look. Just a sugestion, try to find cars like yours, suspension type and ask owners advice and a possible ride?, buy the guy a soda or beer or? Theres a Huge reason why radials are better and you can get some that look pretty good. But if you are going for looks only traditional style bias ply wins. I like those 235/85R16s on the back there - but what would be a good choice for the front in a 16? I was kinda planning on running some 7.50 x 16s on the rear of my roadster and probably some 6.50 x 16s on the front - but damn those reproduction nylon tires are expensive as hell!
235/85/16 is A LOT of tire for a model A. They are load range E....For example, I run them on my 1979 Ford F250 supercab camper special,,,you know 23 ft long 5,800 pounds truck. I'm betting it doesn't help the ride quality of a buggy sprung vehicle at all.
On the contrary, It helps better. With the rim, it's a Heavy ass wheel, they stay on the ground & grab good. Funny: I've have a screw in one with a slow leak, but you cant tell until it drops under 15psi
I ran these from Coker. They are excelsiors. 5.00-16 and 7.50 -16. Soft compund and nice ride. Needs tubes though.

Here is Chris's (box50) sedan. Its currently sitting on borrowed wheels and tires. I think they are 750 rear and 600 fronts. I am going to slap him in the face for even asking if he should run radials on this car.
If you want to drive in a straight line use radial. I have 500x16 and 750x16 bias plys and they are paving our road one lane at a time and it jumps around on the irregularitysbetween lanes.
last night while taking my boys for a walk, I grabbed 2 used tires from my neighbor, 265/70/16s & 2 screwdrivers & threw it on a 1935 wire wheel, LOOKS Bitchen. For a used tire with a tad over an 1/8" thread, it sat at 30" tall, so new probally 31" tall. And wide, looks tough.
