You guys are amazing at hooking up these trucks and yes I have one that'll become a newly back on the road. It's been sitting in the Vegas heat since 86 just waiting for me to take her home. Pics will follow when we start the tear down and build up

Waiting on my Sid's drop axle. I've owned this truck for over 20 years now and I'm on my 3rd 390.

  14. Putting the knobs and switches back in my 62 and want to get them in the correct order. Under the gauge panel there are 6 holes. On the far left is the wiper switch and on the far right is the fan control.

Can someone please tell me what switches are in the four empty holes going from left to right ... Thanks!

I have a 62 that the po messed with, what's left is:

wipers, headlights, missing?, blanked off, choke, fan control

the missing could have been cig lighter?

  20. Just got a ton of parts for my unibody from Dennis Carpenter. Im trying to figure out the cigar lighter. All I had was the chrome bezel with nothing attached to it and the knob that looks like it screwed in to something.

I installed the electronic part in using the hole in the dash. I screwed the knob in to the part that pops out of the lighter assembly to light your cigar. It pushes in and pulls out fine. But when I try to figure out how the bezel attaches Im just not seeing it. As a matter of fact if I was able to attach the bezel to the dash there is no way I would be able to pull the lighter out. Its bigger around then the hole in the bezel.

If anyone ever has a chance to take a picture of the assembly in and out of their truck I would appreciate it. I'm in no real hurry, not like I'm going to use the receptacle for anything but maybe a phone charger or something.

Thanks to anyone that takes the time ... or can point me in the direction online to check this out. My Google search didn't bring up squat on the breakdown, just a picture of a dash.

Hi all, I'm looking for some measurements from a short bed unibody, I am toying with turning a long bed into a short bed and don't have access to one locally to see where the trimming takes place. I know it's going to be a chore but I have a real nice long bed and really want to use it. I am looking for dimension from back of cab to fender well and from fender well to back stake pocket, measured inside the bed. It looks like 8" need to be taken out from cab to fender well and would assume that the remaining 16" will come out of the rear but would like to make sure. Thanks for any help.

The hardest part will be getting that angled body line to line up correctly! Cutting a long bed uni down is more than just sectioning the bed in front of and behind the wheel well!!

Absolutely know what your saying, I have laid it out and it looks like I can make it work out but need to know an approximate dimension of the short bed so it looks close to right. I ran into a guy last summer that built a nice short bed and he gave me some good ideas but like an idiot I lost his number and didn't get measurements prior.

If my idea works I believe I can cut a consistent width strip of the formed area the whole length of the bed and then modify above it once the sections have been removed, hard to explain but it looks like it will work on paper, boy I've heard that before!
    I will document the process.
