Chevy seemed to have a way of nailing it first, then as they "improved" the car through its 3-4 year run they almost always got worse- for me. I love them all but my feeling on that theory runs all the way into the 70s. 55 over 56/57 59 el camino? perfection in factory automotive art, 60 el camino, not to me. Impalas, chevelles (66 over 67, 70 over 71/72) camaros.. on and on

I would have to side with the 56 2dr HT. ht I actually like them all but the 56 Model just really chugs my pump.

I've owned more 57's than the 55's or 56's, but I like them all. My '55 is almost ready for a test drive after a long hibernation under the blackberries in my back yard.

In my opinion, the 55 is the cleanest looking car of the three, and lend itself best for both stock, custom and pro/street, but the 56 would be a great custom too. The 57 is best bone stock, and quite frankly, Im bored to death with the 57 Bel Air sidetrim, so it had to be a 210 or 150. (Black widow maybe)
.......but what do I know. :)

I think the 57 is over done. The 55 is cool... but If I had to trade my beloved Fords for a bowtie, It would have to be a 56!

As a kid growing up the 57 was always my favorite car, but over time the 55 was also a big influence. I think the 55 is a tougher looking car. Got one of each now and like them equally, now have to make time to get them out and back on the road.

    Hi there

In 60' I had a 57' Bel Air hardtop 270' dual quads bored an 1/8" to 301 cid, with 4 into I headers with glass packs

What a neat street racer & skirt chaser it was painted met gold

If you want a neat ride build you a 57' with a 270 engine setup and the Duntov 097 cam, then you have the most desired car for cruising Bob's in Van Nuys in 1960' and did they ever sound good right off the showroom floor

All you need is some glasspac's for mufflers and you will be stying, as that was the real deal

My "56" seems to prefer "55's" and eats them alive. Claims they taste just like chicken. :D

'56 both car & pick-up ! ! ! Unfortunately we cut up many, many tri-five to build dirt track race cars back in '60's & '70's, Gremlin & Vega bodies also. Wonder how many '20's & '30's cars ended their lives on the dirt tracks ?

  26. I know that '57s have become the poster child for the generic '50's car,but an older kid in my neighborhood had a 210 two door sedan with chrome reverse wheels. They will always be cool in my book. What do I want? A '57 210 four door wagon with some patina, a set of slightly pitted 14" chrome reverse wheels, and a sparkle steering wheel. Of course, I would take a Nomad if it was the same price. That is one sexy ass on that car.

I always thought the '56 hardtops(both two door and four doors)were some the prettiest cars chevy ever made along with the '61s.
