My guess is just a style thing, it helped to get the lines flowing nicely. To be honest the trunk area on inside of my zephyr isn't all that big, the one on Beverly's 37 Dodge coupe is a lot bigger . The zephyrs have a very large luggage area behind the seat also, could very easily be a four seater. That 41 looks awesome on the truck. A bit to low for my liking but the lines of the chop flow well. Paul
Not usually a fan of coupes' rear styling but I had to pipe in here and tell you that's probably the most elegant, beautiful one I've ever seen. Amazing proportions. And a V12... it'll be a few minutes before I can roll out from under this desk. Amazing.
I have a 37 Zephyr sedan. Im looking to run a v12 and auto, like yours. Did you use a C4 tranny? What did you do for brakes? BTW, yours looks amazing.

Now that's a workshop. Nailedbuick, I have just converted my 37 over to hydraulics. I bought the new zephyr backing plates and assemblies for the front, trouble is they won;t fit the early style spindles that the 37 has, as the bolt pattern is different and so is the offset. My guess is you would need the 39/39 zephyr front spindles too. I ended up cutting the backing plate centres and replacing them with some from a Ford pilot (uk ford v8 from the 40s), this worked but I had to turn the backing plates slightly to allow the area where the cylinder is to clear the top of my kingpins. They do work but bleeding out properly may well be a bit of a chore now. As you are in the states I would guess that you will find it much easier to track down the parts you need. Paul.

I've run the course from "sports cars" to muscle cars, trucks and lately am into model "A" hot rods (3) ; but have had the "tail-dragger" look banging around in my squash for awhile.After seeing your post I know why.Really nice work;congrats and keep updating the pics!! Mike from Mass.

G'day Paul we got that from the states a few years ago. Been trying to find out some history on it. Built in the 60s All I know I'd it was brought from a deceased estate from a dentist in California. It's on a caddy chassis runs a caddy engine and trans.has hidden door openers. Caddy rear fenders edsel bumpers and chyrsler headlights.and shit loads of body filler!
