Yes they do! I did for got to mention how instrumental your tech on brass trim was!
Ive read about guys making window trim and other trim parts in a few little books over the years. when it came time to get serious I did some digging and your thread was hands down the best info out there for doing this.

Awesome workmanship. These details are making the car go from another chopped Merc, into the exceptional Merc category. Glad to see the project back on track and updated.
It's too bad you couldn't have utilized a mill to make a couple of passes on the brass stock vs. the labor of hand filing and grinding it to shape.
Btw, what are the shortfalls of cutting and shaping the stock stainless?

As far as milling it is concerned. After I hand ground and filed a 12' stick of it I started looking around for better options! I asked the guys in the machine shop at work and none of them wanted to tackle the project. So I finally ended up sticking the brass to one of the surface plate tables at work with 3m double sided tape and used a router with a round over bit to make things go a little quicker. That has cut the fab time per window in half!

In regards to the stock trim, there just doesn't seem to be a good way to reshape it. It clips over the stock window lip and there isn't a good way to hammer dolly and metal finish it. Most guys end up using 3 or 4 stainless clips per window to cover the parts where it's butted together. I messed with the stock trim for a little while and opted to go with the brass for a cleaner look.
I can't wait to see them chromed!

I've seen those brass ones, finished up as one continuous chromed piece, Looks really clean, no clips. I rebent my stainless per Steadman's video, even then it was really hard not to kink them. It's not too hard to heat and tighten a curve, but to heat and spread open a bend was tough.

Very nice. Out of curiousity, would you know how high you had to make the transmission tunnel, compared to stock?

 

It is a good bit taller, but I really don't know how much.
I had to mount the engine higher then I wanted to due to steering box issues and to get all my angles right.
I was able to modify the stock tunnel

alright alright I'll fill you all in on what I've been up to...I'm way over due for an update anyway.

I've done a bunch of small detail stuff but I wont bore you with the details.

and I know I'll probably catch some flack for this, but I had a few set of smitty mufflers but I didn't want glass packs...I wanted steel packs.
so I cut those apart and made a few changes to the baffle core and repacked them with stainless steel....I know I know boring stuff but I am pretty excited to hear how they sound!![/URL]

I had a very productive weekend and am really happy with how these turned out.



here's how the process started
with a set of lenses and round rod from winfield



gotta make a few holes go away


all tacked in... lets not focus on the bs holes that some ass clown put in the side of my quarters to get fiberglass to stick.... still need fix them.
