Its about time, spent the last couple of weeks putting the V-8 drivetrain in my American after owning this car for 4-5 years. I installed a mild AMC 360, T-400 with 2000 stall conv. and 8" ford with 4.11 gears, after some shakedown runs today it went a best of 7.93 at 85 mph.
not this week but installing a higher stall conv. for next week, will show results if it happens, its a pretty mild engine in there now around 375 hp but I got my 520 hp 401 waitin in the wings.
Ok today was a good day of bracket racing, first time out with the 66 and I go all the way to the finals 6 rounds with some good lights all day, had a .506 light to get into the semi's and had 2 rounds where I ran my opponent under with there better lights, with one opponent having a .501 light but he was off his dial by 9, and also ran a best of 7.88 at 86 mph today.
So today I installed a higher stall conv. went from 2000 to 3200 stall so maybe 3-4 tenths on that and removed rad. fan and pulley and installed a moroso electric motor and that should be worth a tenth or two, will find out this weekend.
Well not as much et improvement as I expected but times did improve to a best of 7.74 et at 88 mph,, but then disaster struck in 2nd rnd. as soon as I left the line the rear u-joint broke which messed up a few other things but should be an easy fix. The converter change did not amount to anything, this conv. stalled at 3200 in friends truck with a stock 400 sbc and putting it in this car with the 360 amc it only stalls to 2000, go figure. So it picked up a tenth and a half with the water pump motor change which is what I expected.
